Over this Holiday we started boxing stuff up for the move. Where did it all come from  :o

The next three weeks will be filled with getting everything ready to load on the trucks and I'm not looking forward to it! After that I see another three months of getting both houses settled.

Moving is a chore in and of itself, the initial boxing and labeling to include what's inside and the room or place location helps for where its going when it gets there.

Best regards and good luck with the process... ;)

Boxing a labeling is easy to get bored with and tired of...But don't slack off on diligence.  The better you box, the easier the load up will be.  And the better you label, the faster the unpack will go, along with fewer items that get lost forever.

Good luck!

Being raised in the Military  - and now married 38yr, when we moved to Ga. from NY - I said thats it, it took me 3 trips to move everything including wife and 3 kids. That was in 85, now if I have to move - I'm taking my guns, reloading equip and MC and torch the house and go!

Hey IC
If you haven't already done so (which I'm bet you did....
Two things:
Make sure the boxes have what Room they go into
And second;
Make a scale diagram of each of your new Rooms, with Doors and Windows located
Make scale "Footprints" of your Furnishings and place them in each room to see where they will go
If you do this ahead of time, it save tons of time moving and re-moving heavy Furnishings
Just my $0.02
So tell me again how Trump was worse then the 8 years before .... AND what came after HIM !

Intercooler

Yup. Got all of that covered. It's just a mass of stuff that you didn't realize you actually have  ;D

In ammo alone that will take a while  :o

DenStinett

Oh yeah, I hear ya
5 of those Costco File Boxes with Loaded Ammo alone
2 more in Bullets
2 more in Loading Misc / Tools
Not counting the rest of the "SHOP" stuff
Been in our "new" home for 8 years and I still have three or four un-packed "SHOP" Boxes

Moving is truly the worst job in the world, it doesn't matter how much you plan or how many times you've done it in the past, something always goes wrong. But as long as the family and pets make it ok and you still look forward to being in your new location, everything else will work itself out. Good luck!
Just think of all the post cards that you'll be sending, that say "Wish you were here".   ;)

I feel for you man.

I have moved myself twice in the last 18 months.  And, I didn't change my address (major remodel...Moved to a condo three blocks away, then back).

And in February I moved all my grandfathers things from Florida to Utah after he died. That move was the hardest.  It was all stuff I wanted, but didn't need or really have room for.  I kept 90% of it :))  It is all still stacked in my garage waiting for the basement and second garage to be finished before I unpack.

The only way it could be wrse is if you have to pack everything by yourself like I did when going from Vermont to Texas. Wife wanted to keep working as long as possible and I wasn't. Best of luck going to the new place. P. S. Texas is gun friendly.

We have a mover lined up for the heavy stuff (furniture). The boxes and miscellaneous stuff will be all us! It's still going to be a good bit just our part  :o

We are packing away and getting there. Yesterday was a long one as I am working on our current house getting it ready on top of it all. I spent all day yesterday in the Sun sealing the blacktop and it looks great! As a treat and motivation we snuck over to the new one and by sheer luck met our last neighbor (turned into a 1 hour chat). Someone is doing a fine job keeping the grounds up until we get there in 14 days  ;D

Today will be another long one... pressure washing the back patio, awning and house face  :(

Intercooler

What a long day! I should only have about three hours more of outside work getting it ready. My arms and legs couldn't take another 15 minutes though today  :o

Getting there will make things better!  8)

I used a whole tube of Banana Boat SPF 30 today and feel like I still may have a little burn.
