I found a couple 20 round boxes of some old hornady ammo, two are #9125 170 gr. jhp two are #9128 200 gr. fmj, anyone have any idea of the actual muzzle velocity of them? I've searched online and its all over the board, thanks in advance!

What would be nice is if you would send a couple for the pull-down documentations for history & preservation.
if you look over the pull-down sections you can see the work being documented.  This sheds some in sight into what powders and how much was being used back then.

It would be nice to get a chrono reading off these.

Do you see that price 9$ wow

If I could have foreseen the future I would have bought cases of the stuff back in the day.

BullittBoy

I have some 155 grain
I bought it thinking it was "XTP" but this was before that bullet--way late 80's
The back of the box lists these velocities:

155 HP  1410 !
170 HP  1320
200 FMJ 1150

the box flap has 88 stamped-this is a refernce year in my opinion
hope this helps--they are HOT when I shot 5 they were very accurate
If anyone wants some to test I would be happy to mail you 5 if you send me some denero  ;D

Bullittboy, how about if you mail me two of each and I'll pull them document them and put them back together (just like factory) for you and mail them back.  It would be a great learning experience for everyone.  PM me if interested.
