Planning on buying a Glock 20 Gen 4 soon.I will be shooting Underwood, Buffalo Bore or Double Tap HARDCAST bullets for woods protection.

What aftermarket barrel do you recommend? Reliability is very important.

What brand do you like for a 22-24lb Spring?

Thanks for your help!!!

I have a G 20sf and bought a KKM precision drop in barrel and i couldn't be happier if I tried.   Very accurate and great case support.   This was Important to me for reloading purposes.     I have no comments on other barrels as I never owned any other than KKM.

Best of luck

Get a Gen3.  Gen4 has had issues with the exact ammo you're going to feed it.

The G-20 Gen 4's have had some issues factory stock with various ammo.  The  G-20 Gen 3's & SF have had way less issues.

That being said I have several LWd barrels 357Sig and 9x25Dillon for the G-29 and G-20SF.  No problems and the chambers are great.  Some have noted the LWD 10mm chambers have changed with less support...I also have older Storm Lake Barrels for the G-29, no complaints.

Lately KKM seems to be the way to go for the 10mm Glocks.

Thanks guys - was set on the Gen 4. Like the stippling and mag release.... Love my Gen4 G19... not 1 failure/malfunction 3000 rounds.

1. Does the a barrel with less case support feed more reliably?
2. Any place you recommend to stipple the Gen 3 Grip stippled?

The_Shadow

#1) Yes and that is the reason for the loose chamber of the glock design...Tighter chambers can cause issues, as they get dirty you may have a failure to fully feed cartridges.  Cartridges loaded long or have wide Meplats also have a longer tipping angle, that can hang up in the tighter chamber.

#2) Personally I don't like stippling, I have no recommendations.
However does stippling void warranties?  Not sure?
Does it induce weaknesses to the frame structure? Not sure?

I too bought a KKM barrel for my new G20 G4.  110% satisfied.  I may buy another G20 (I did say I would never buy a Glock) or G29.  IF I DO, I WILL simultaneously order a new KKM barrel at the same time.

I read somewhere on a forum someone said it even LOOKED like a product.  I thought at the time, how can a measly barrel look great?  They were right - the KKM even LOOK like high quality.

Just get one, already!

Thanks again for all the help... I really appreciate. Some forums can be total dicks to newbies.

I think I'll go with a Gen3 G20sf... Thank god they are still available!

1. Which has less case support? KKM or Lone Wolf?

chucky2

I believe Lone Wolf has less case support than KKM, unless you contact LW and specifically get them to make it tighter than normal.

FWIW, I have a gunsmith-fit extended and threaded Barsto barrel on my Gen-4 G20.  Really like it.  No ammo problems to date.

Have you shot 220 Grain Hard Cast bullets? (underwood, buffalo bore, double tap)

Maybe I am over-thinking everything but I need a super reliable woods gun for 220 grain hard cast bullets. So a barrel that is most reliable for feeding and NOT for super accuracy...

Thanks guys for all your help!!!

Intercooler

Have you talked to Kevin Underwood at Underwood Ammo? Ask him about his Glock barrels and what he suggests. He will for sure tell you about his Barsto barrel.
