I have decided to get a Gen 4 Model 29 for CCW the decision was easy in that I have many thousands of rounds of 10 through my Model 20 SF with both the stock and LW Longslide upper and because I reload for those guns already practice should be easy with both. I certainly hope the 29 will be as good as the 20 has been as far handling reliability and accuracy.

I have loved my G26 and G19. My EDC was my G26 - until I got my Glock 29. I really love this pistol. I shoot the 10mm better than my 9mm - such a flat trajectory! - and I have a Lone Wolf 40SW conversion barrel which, until I stockpile more good 10mm ammo, is my EDC.

The size for me is perfect - a little bigger than the 26, a little smaller than the 19. A bit heavier, it eats up the 40 recoil so it feels like 9mm.  And shooting 10mm - not a problem. I don't shoot the uber-nuclear 700+ muzzle energy loads, but some factory loads (Remington UMC, PMC JHP) are sort  of a 40 SW +P+ and, terrific for high-power personal defense. Hornady likewise has some nice factory offerings. Getting some of the new Federal Vital Shok bonded soft point for woods carry.

Terrific pistol. As more decent factory loads become available for urban personal defense, I can see the 29 catching on even more.

Islandtriguy, welcome to the forum!  The Glock 29 (before SF) was my first experience with the Glock, It handed everything I put trough it, it also sports conversion barrels for 40S&W, 357Sig and 9x25Dillon.  That has added to its versatility and the experience.   :D

Best regards and enjoy the forum!  8)

I think you'll be very happy with it. I carry my 29 gen3 sf the majority of my time. Great power and reliability.

Thanks for the feedback I frankly overlooked the conversion barrel for the 40 seeing I have about 900 rounds of 40 and no gun to shoot it into that makes great sense......Conversion barrel on order very soon I will let you know how my range session go when it arrives end of the week I also ordered a model 42 for my wife she has Micro Eagle now in 380 but love the Glocks so hopefully it will be as relaible and good as my model 20SF has...

No Rush

I love my 29gen4. I am sure you will too!
I don't even carry my g19 anymore.
I need to order a conversion barrel soon too!
Let us know how it works for you!
10mm - "yes, big bada BOOM"

well the model 29 is now mineI had time to run three mags through it.

Snappy with full house rounds the two types of defense ammo was easy to handle and the gun is very accurate concealment is easy and certainly has big advantage over my 20.

This will be real nice addition to my daily carry rotation.

Besides the grip of the gen 4 being turned into razor blades do you notice any difference compared to the gen 3 sf. Both have dual recoil springs. I guess the gen 4 could take different back straps.
