I think the growth of the 10mm is really expanding. at my work in a department with about 20 people we have 4 folks with glock 20's.  not bad for a communist state!

Shooting sports have grown immensely over the last decade.  It is reasonable to assume that as those shooters mature they will seek out better performing cartridges, which should lead them here in handguns. :D

Very nice mag360. In my dept with several hundred to a thousand or more, I would bet that I'm the only one with a G20 or any other 10mm. And, I'm in Florida where they issue us a CCW with each lottery ticket purchase :))

Yeah, well, I'm here in Utah and they issue a CCW, but they don't do Lotto Tickets
I do wish they has a better CCW Program though

We have over 1,000 members in a short amount of time, and I've never advertised this site anywhere. It's spreading strictly by word of mouth. I was surprised the other day when someone I work with, without knowing I'm into 10mm said to me "I'm thinking about buying this Glock 20 10mm at a gun store I saw the other day." Hopefully I was able to convince him to do it.

Reading the other forums and message boards scattered around the internet, whenever someone asks for advise on what the best cartridge to buy for  woods protection or carrying around town, someone will always bring up the 10mm, even people who don't own 10mm will say 10mm is the best, if they know anything about guns and are halfway honest anyway. My hope is those kinds of comments will lead people to start researching for themselves, which will lead them here this this website and we can convince them. The more there are of us, the more the manufacturers will listen when we ask for more 10mm!!

I've been wanting a 10mm for several years now and since the Mrs. and I are riding our bikes down the trails of the Great Dismal Swamp in both Va. & N.C I wanted something extra, 9mm & 45acp work fine against 2 legged critters but with spring around the corner black bears with cubs are out. Now you folks out west are laughing as your bears are much bigger, but a sow with cubs is still a  bear with an attitude. 16rds of 10mm and two 15 rd mags are cheap health insurance.

ps 10mm is NOT in the Obamacare  plan :o

Ya, I mentioned in a post I have up in regards to the 10's new surge in popularity. With Companies introducing new 10mm offerings (ie. STI, and Nighthawk, among others), not to mention a bunch of new ammo listings, it is well on it's way!! Amen, I have been a huge fan of the 10 since '88 when I bought my first Delta Elite after reading an article by Col. Cooper (R.I.P.).

Yes, and STI just introduced the Nitro 10 1911 pistol.

I have a buddy that just purchased two .45 ACP 1911's. He tells me his next pistol will be a 10mm. And...he hasn't fired my G20. Yet..

Got one on the hook for a Gen 3 fullsize. Just gotta finish reeling him in and onboard.

I think if SIG, Walther, Springfield, and FN would chamber guns for this cartridge.  It would take-off exponentially.

This is my 100% true honest opinion on why the 10mm hasn't become very popular:

I believe that the firearms manufacturers are biased. I think that the very people that design the guns push their own agenda based on what they like. These guys are diehard .45 and .40 fans. They are scared of producing something and ADVERTISING it in a way that will push their beloved .45 and .40's aside. They make small runs of 10mm guns here and there and jack up the prices to keep it to a small group of collectors. The average gun owner isn't going to spend $4,000 on a Dan Wesson Titan 10mm or even a $1,000 Delta Elite when a .45 1911 can be found at any gun shop for $500. We all know about EAA because we researched anything and everything about 10mm's and learned that they import Tanfoglio's. But the average gun owner isn't going to even know what EAA is. EAA doesn't advertise anywhere that I've seen. And when the average gun owner thinks about a Glock they think .40 or 9mm, and that's what they usually buy. This agenda is pushed by gun salesmen too. Whenever I go to a gun store and ask if they have any 10mm guns or ammo, I always get the same question "Why would you want to shoot that? .45 or .40 are much better." And if I try to talk ballistics, they just say "Can't beat a 1911 in .45, it's a fact."

4949shooter

I got the same question at the range by one of our "gun guru's" when I submitted my 20SF for off duty qualification.

The "gun guru" asked, "Why the ten?" as he looked at me with distrust in my knowledge and abilities. I quickly replied that the 10 mm will throw a 180 grain bullet at 1300 fps, a 155 grain bullet at 1500 fps, and a 200 grain bullet at 1200 fps. I then explained that the .40 S&W couldn't touch these figures.

He had no answer.

James Yeager says all defensive pistols should be standard pressure and Glocks. Those kinds of comments don't help any other offerings with a boost. What the 10mm lacks is a person doing, showing and talking the 10mm up. The best we have so far is Razor Dobbs  :o and maybe Nugent  ???

It doesn't get much better than Ted Nugent. Maybe if Ted would go on an "all out" 10mm media boast it would help our cause.

After all, Ted Nugent could be dropping in here every now and then.
