That was kind of my fear, that velocity might be low.  Glad you shared your go around with it so we know.   Thanks.

I'm a little more surprised that the primer severely flattened, but it did what it did and that's that.
Gun Control?  Oh yes, the theory that becoming a victim is somehow morally superior to defending yourself & your family.  Makes perfect sense.

One thing that some people have speculated about is that AA#9 and #7 may be showing primers flattened more than really reflects the pressure involved because they are so fine that they actually leak through the flash hole into the primer itself. I don't know how accurate that is but it sure would be nice to have some real results from folks with proper strain gauges.

Agreed.  Then we would know if some powders of different powders loaded to a same pressure level create flattened primers where others don't.

I want to revive this sucker. I loaded up some more 155 gr TAC-XP yesterday ranging from 8.6-9.0 gr 800-X in 0.2 gr increments. I hope I see pressure signs before a kaboom happens. Barnes doesn't seem to want these bullets pushed very hard but Buffalo Bore seems to be getting away with it. I wish there was more data available.

The Buffalo Bore "Pull-Down" revealed the use of 11.0 grains of Power Pistol behind these.  I actually duplicated the load for IC's C.O.P. 155's a similar bullet and his results were close, they may have been more even if I would have resized the casings to a allow more bullet tension that could have been lost from pulling the original loading.

To date it has been the highest velocity I've seen... ;)

Caneman

i use 8.2gr of Longshot with the Barnes 155gr, it gets me 1250 fps and the casehead expansion with this load is as much as i am comfortable with

11 gr of PP is a full grain over max for a lead core 155 gr according to my Hornady 7th. Seems they're getting away with it so maybe the longer bearing surface isn't as big an issue as I thought. Maybe we can treat them mostly like lead core bullets of the same weight. Compressed charges still worry me, though.

You can search here to see my results with them. They shoot good!

How is crossfire ammo getting that speed out of there Blackmax 140 copper load? Like 1500fps
