10mm UZI

I have been an UZI owner since 2003.  My UZI came set up with 9mm, but over the years I was able to purchase other caliber's 22lr, 40 S&W, 45acp, and in August a 10mm barrel was delivered from Troy at www.barrelxchange.com.

Sunday I went to the range to fire some 10mm through my UZI.  I tried a 22 round 45 acp magazine from Pro-mag.  I adjusted the feed lips, and was able to load 25 rounds.  Well the rounds had binding issues since 10mm does not stack the same as 45acp. The most rounds I could get to work properly was 14.  The side rib's going down each side of the magazine end where the mag stops are placed, below that down each side to the bottom it's smooth. In that area there is more space for the rounds to end up side to side.

I brought a box of 135 gr. hp Underwood, and 180 gr Berry plated bullets that I loaded.  I fired 170 rounds total. My reloads were comfortable shooting. Underwood ammo was stout. The UZI was a beast firing it.  At most 2 round bursts were my limit to keep rounds on paper, after that the gun walked up off target.

I enjoyed 10mm in the UZI, I just need to fix the magazine issue.

How does the 10mm recoil compare to the 45 acp recoil in the Uzi on burst?

mirage

Felt recoil was much more intense using 10mm vs 45acp especially with the hot Underwood 135 HP load.  Muzzle blast was also more intense.  Brass was flying a good 20 feet to the right front out in front of the 3rd & 4th shooting positions to my right. I don't have the tools to measure bullet speed, But barrel length is 10.2"

Shadow, It's definitively a fun gun to use.  I enjoy the ear to ear grin when others finish shooting it.   One of my better purchases in firearms. It's a keeper!!

you HAVE to shoot a vid of this beast!

OOOHHHH! PICTURES!

My only disappointment with a high power UZI is that once you disassemble the weapon, the barrel comes out of the receiver so that you need to rezero every time you clean, unless you fix the barrel to the receiver by not removing it. Except for that, I think it would be an excellent Urban carbine. One of the reasons I like the MPA carbine (MAC-10 Clone) is that the barrel/receiver is fixed so that impact point does not shift on cleaning.

10mm UZI.....just awesome!  Pics and/or Video would be sweet.
Gun Control?  Oh yes, the theory that becoming a victim is somehow morally superior to defending yourself & your family.  Makes perfect sense.

Goldbead,

I haven't experienced any problems with sighting between different caliber barrels. Once the barrel nut is tighten down it's back to zero. Even when I change from a hot 9mm barrel to a fresh one, sight's are on.  I'm only using the UZI smg out to fifth yards, even though it's equipped with 100, & 200 yard fip-up sights.

Your MPA carbine is a cool gun, I use to own a SWD m-11 9mm, allot of gun in a small package.

45 ACP Pro-Mag UZI Test

I had a chance to test the new generation 45 ACP Uzi Magazine.  This mag was sent to me from Pro-Mag to beta test for them.  They have it right this time, plenty of room inside the mag for the rounds, and outside enough metal sanded off the front surface to slide into the magazine well.

I had to try running 23 rounds since 23 fit inside the magazine, but it didn't work for me as you will see in the youtube video.  22 rounds work fine.

I'm still trying to figure out how to make the Pro-Mag magazine run more than 14, 10mm rounds.

Great video. That's a nice piece you have there.

I would love to see a video of the 10mm ammo being fired from it.

mirage,
Did you have the bolt face of a 9MM UZI opened up for the larger case head of the 10MM? Or are you using a 45 Bolt?
