I have been warming up to the EAA 10mm models lately. .. What are the "best" ones?

So far I like the Hunter... but miss the rail. I definitely prefer the blued (or whatever that is) models to the wonder finish, strictly from an aesthetics point of view. ..

Any big gotchas or tips with EAAs in general?

I have a Hunter, Limited Pro and Elite Limited. In the past I have also owned a Match and Polymer.

They are all great but the Polymer sucked! If you want a rail and single action get the Match. One day I will get another Match but the old style with no rail and the Bomar cut rear sight. You gain the better Super Sight with the Limited versions. I currently have two of the Elite Limiteds because they have all the bells and whistles plus the Cone/Bull barrel and full dust cover.

The blued version standard steel have a flaw in regards to the finish wearing real fast as opposed to the Wonder. Buds sells the blued version at bottom 400.00. The Wonder are around 70.00 bucks higher. Stay away from compact version, not very reliable, yet accurate and fun to shoot, just not up to snuff and mags suck. Match is fun if your into S/A only.

The Witness is a nice Pistol
I'd love a Hunter, if the Dust Cover wasn't so long, as that 6 inch Upper is very desirable to me
My daily carry is a Full Size, Large Framed Witness with a 10mm Compact Upper, aka, a Semi Compact
I've added both a 5 inch 10mm Loangslide and the .22lr Conversion

So tell me again how Trump was worse then the 8 years before .... AND what came after HIM !

I have a limited large frame in .45 acp.  I'm looking for a 10mm barrel & slide assembly for it.  Anyone have any leads?

Which model are you leaning towards?

Your best bet to find parts for you frame is the Brian Enos forums. Register there and post a wanted ad. If anyone has extra stuff those guys do!

There is always the All Tanfoglio And Witness Pistols Forum:

As the Name implies, they are all about the Witness Line
Great bunch of folks there

I've had 7 Witness pistols over the last 13 years. My first Witness from about 13 years ago suffers from a common problem that most older 10mm Witness guns seem to have, which is a failing to feed properly. Another Witness from 5-6 years ago had the rounded slide that cracked. I have had no problems with any Witness made after 2010 though. I love the way the "blued" guns look but they scratch easily, especially on the frame. I won't even put my new one in anything but a padded nylon holster. I've had some great wonder finish guns but those are hit or miss too. I've had one rust after just one day out in the woods, and another that turned black all over after getting wet in a nylon holster (I think the dye penetrated the wonder finish). In both of those instances I used a dremel tool with a small wire wheel to remove the wonder finish, then polishing wheel to make it shine. I then added the checkered grips. Looked great but both of those guns were from around 2003 and had the failure to feed problem. I ended up selling them to an EAA employee at a gun show. (A few years later the Witness Stock came out, which looked just like the Witness I sold the EAA employee, polished steel with Walnut grips. Maybe just a coincidence, but I doubt it.) Attached is a picture of the two I use the most.

Witness elite limited looks the best to me looks wise. But at around 1300$ wow

I am quite fond of my standard full size witness.  But...It has been refinished, re-sprung, fluff and buff.

For a trouble free witness from the box suitable for EDC, I would look hard at a Stock.

No nonsense, but since it is from the Elite line, it will almost certainly run well and last well.
