I'm working on the sheet this morning and see Double Tap 200gr Controlled Expansion. Checking their site it looks to be discontinued and I don't even know what bullet it was. Anyone know? I'm moving it and any others I find like that to "discontinued". Double Tap lists a 180gr Controlled Expansion if anyone can ID the bullet it may be the same.

The 180's are listed as Nosler. My guess is Nosler?

They do claim to use Noslers as their controlled expansion rounds.

 Wow! The Discontinued sheet really grew. MAC Ammo is out of business, Double Tap offers half of what it did and a couple others dropped weights.

It might be better to list who is still in business, as opposed to what's missing from their listings given the current supplies shortages!   

Yes many have come and gone over the years!

Bought some double tap 180 gr  controlled expansion a few years back, they were using Montana Gold bullets.

I just ordered (and received) six boxes of their 200gr JHP.  They ID'ed them on the webpage as "Nosler", but the box flap says "controlled expansion".  They look just like the Noslers of my DT180gr and DT150gr rounds (except they're longer, of course, but that extra length is inside the case and isn't visible).  I'm fairly sure DT just uses both terms for the same bullet ... I THINK the Noslers MAY have always expanded a little slower than Gold Dots ... maybe that's what DT is trying to convey.  I doubt that anything has changed except the terminology.

What's the box flap rating now? Did they do those in 5.25"?

It says 1250 ft/s for a 5.0" bbl.  (And 1195 ft/s for a 3.8" bbl).  I THINK that's what it's said for quite a while.  Also, it comes in a box with "DT Hunter" on the top (and it's listed on their webpage under that category) ... as opposed to the "DT Defense" label for 180gr and 150gr.  But their description says that the 200gr is also good for defense.

(In addition to some concerns that have been expressed on this forum about inadequate penetration of the lighter bullets, I also decided to include the 200gr in my alternations in each mag, because of an close-up encounter I had with a black bear in my yard.  He turned out not to be aggressive ... just slowly wondered off, but he looked BIGGER and healthier than any of the bears I'd seen around here before.  My full-size 10mm Kimber didn't feel quite as big or powerful after that encounter as it previously always had.  My son, in Alaska, wasn't all that sympathetic about my fear ... the brownies he deals with up there are about twice as big.)
