I have been asking some questions on Brian Enos forums about something I have experienced now in two of my EAA pistols. My Match had a pretty deep mark in the beaver-tail but I thought it was just due to the hammer spring not being as strong as needed to control the travel:

When I posted the photo someone said your frame should show a slide:frame hit also. I checked and it does show a shiny spot where contact is being made. I have a new Elite Limited coming and wanted to go with another Henning cone guide-rod and 20lb spring setup in it. Instead their was a suggestion to put a Sprinco recoil reducing guide-rod in it.
  It's weird because my Hunter don't have it and has seen some nasty stuff but the hammer setup on it can't make it far enough to contact the beaver-tail. What started out as trying to avoid a blem from the hammer might help the whole setup.

I wish it had the Henning cone on there and planning on asking if he can make a custom unit. If it works I will switch them all over to this setup.

They have a "Corbon" version but it sound like I would need to be running Nukes all the time which isn't the case. He said change the outer spring for the load.

  Today was DPM system trial. I picked up a complete XD DPM recoil reduction system that was installed but never used to try it out. This is the Wife's XD 9mm which doesn't have much recoil to begin with but...

Running Aguila 124gr FMJ I could tell a difference in felt recoil switching the rods. No malfunctions and my groups tended to be a little better with the DPM rod installed. I'm keeping it in!

Very nice. The finish on the Sprinco is pretty!

The Sprinco had the wrong bushing for my model.  It didn't run as it should but Alan sorted it out and the new one shows delivered.  I will post some stuff on it tonight when I go again.

Sprinco rod assembled with 20lb Wolff spring. What was wrong with the last setup was the supplied bushing! It's for a different model and the correct one uses the stock bushing with the silver washer installed into it.

All assemble in the channel. The spring is pretty much toast from being used improperly in the last setup.

They work. Swapping back and forth you can feel a difference.

Long day working on pistols 

  Henning wanted me to try his Cone guide-rod with a 16lb 1911 spring cut down for that last 1" of travel. I finally nailed the Limited in length so the slide would lock back. The Pro I think needs one more coil cut off because it won't lock back. In essence this creates coil-bind the last inch to keep the slide from impacting the frame. It's looking like you have to customize the length to get this to work (double spring). Both have a 20lb Wolff for the inner spring at this point. I will update next week when I try them out with some hot loads.

For what it's worth my EAA's always had the mark in beaver tail, previous Match, various compacts including current one. I think I chalk it up to 10mm shooting, real 10mm. My concern is frame/slide battering, internal wear and battering.The cone rod was a nice feature with the Match I had. But I will be getting the cone again with my upcoming purchase of the Stock 2.
