Interesting. I thought a 7.62x39 would have been more devastating. What is the length of the G22 barrel?

If it's stock length the G22 length should be 4.5".  It is interesting to note that the 115 +p+ penetrated 14.9" in this test vs. 9" in TN's test even though the velocity was ~50 FPS faster here (TN got ~1435 out of a 4" barrel.)  The expansion was .889" in TN's test vs. .592" here, which explains the difference in penetration.   That is a HUGE difference!

There is either a big difference in the testing media or a very large difference between these batches of Gold Dots! (My bet is on the media)

BB penetration here was 3.7", TN's was also 3.7".  Interesting to say the least.

That's correct. "Stock" 4.5" conversion barrel.

I was also surprised that the 7.62 didn't have a larger temporary cavity and at the difference between tnoutdoors9's test and my own. It's almost a mirror of our respective results for 10mm 180 gr Gold Dot. I think the test media might account for some of the difference, but I think there's something else going on. I'm at a loss to explain it. 50 fps shouldn't see any significant difference. Different bullet lots might. Maybe a difference in the type of denim? It's clear that the reason mine went deeper is because the petals folded back along the shank but why they did that is a mystery to me.
