Want to load some hot 10mm, 180-200 gr. Can't find my usual stuff, no. 9, 800x , blue dot, longshot etc. Midway says it will be months before they get anything in stock. Cabela's says probably only Winchester WSF  and 760 for the foreseeable future. Natchez and Brownells have no idea when they will get powder. The only thing my local gun store has is Vihtavouri N105 (3 one pound bottles in stock, holding one for me to pick up). Should I jump on it? He might also have some N3N8 and N3N7 tomorrow (only one pound of each)

So we have our second round of Obummer two panic buying/hoarding. I got smart ant got everything needed for a couple years last November thinking a round two would and dld surely happen. Found a police range selling their once fired 10mm brass and bought like 5000 cases. Had 2000 40 cal 185 grain Precision bullets, ordered like 6000 more. (Since I also reload 40 cal S&W.) I have about 1000 LP on hand and also have 1000 Winchester LP that can be used for either regular or magnum loads. I have plenty of SP primers for the 40 S&W. Powders I have for pistol include 2400, HP38, Blue Dot, and 8 pounds of Unique. For rifles I have boxes and boxes of projectiles. I have 8 pounds of H4895 which reloads most of them. I have H4198 for .223, though I also have a recipe for them that does use H4895. Have at least 2000 LP primers.

  I've burned up a few pounds of 105, it works well with my 180gr Jacketed and 170Lead, just don't be surprised if you don't get the velocities listed in the Lapua manual.  But it if the price is acceptable.

Apparently they used a 5 1/2 inch test barrel for their velocity.

IMO the last load w. 12,0gr is safe in this configuration if barrel is clean and temp. is low, speaking of course for MY aftermarket IGB barrel with full supported chamber and considering that after approx. 500 rounds it has less friction or better said, it's a bit broken in.
My woods carry load against feral boar carrying light body armour will be 11,8gr

Warning: Do not try such loads with unsupported barrel or at higher spring/summer temperatures

just don't be surprised if you don't get the velocities listed in the Lapua manual. While staying within published data.

Wow, when loaded heavy this stuff can really produce. I ordered a pound from Powder Valley, another pound from another site and gonna pick up a pound from the local gun store. No other choice when nothing else is available anywhere.

Looks like this place still has it in stock.....though I am wondereng about the -1 designation.

I have played with N105 with my 10mm, it is a great shooting powder in my 44/357 mags, clean burning, efficient...

here is the only load i chronied in the 10mm:

N105, JHP 200gr, 8.4 grains, 994 fps avg, 23 fps std, 0.4255 case head expansion

The VV Book load for N105 maxes at 8.6gr for the 200gr 10mm so i was reluctant to go higher... but as you can see there was not much case head expansion (hot loads will expand to 0.4280 in my 5.3 SL bbl)... the loads that were posted by the man from Slovenia made me mess my pants no way would i go that high!

Does Vihtavouri even make more than 1 pound jugs? I don't think I ever saw an 8 pounder from them.

Answered my own question. They do, this place just didn't have any. But still at all the gun shows I've been to never remember them in anything more than one pounders.

The prices were normal for Vihtavuori, but the cool thing is they only charge $10 for the hazardous handling fee, unlike $27 like most places.

Great price on the hazmat and thanks for the link. I'll keep that in mind when they have VV-350 in stock.

Sooo, not to derail the thread but...5000 pieces from a PD!? Was the brass cleaned when you bought it or as is? Just curious if it was from HK MPs and had the noticable streaking. Also, what PD?

I do not know which police used the range, I bought them. They were all cleaned and about 3/4 nickel plated, which is OK, I LIKE nickel plated. Mostly Winchester brass.
