Hello folks, I have a basically new Witness 10mm pistol. I am having some feeding issues. The round will almost chamber fully but every other shot or so, I have to give it a small slap on the slide to chamber the round. The gun shoots like a dream and would be my primary carry pistol except for this problem. If this question has already been asked and answered, forgive me. I tried to search for the answer first but I missed it or I might be the first one to have this problem. BTW, I called Wolff springs and they said they had no springs to give the magazine extra push, or heavier recoil springs for the 10mm EAA. Any help will be greatly appreciated, K.C.

Factory ammo or handloads?

What is the COL of the ammo?

Generally a hang-up like this is geometry related.  Sometimes a stiffer spring recoil spring or magazine spring can help, but often not.

I would try the 22 lb recoil spring for a CZ-75B compact model from Wolff springs.  I would also get one of the +5% magazine springs for tz-75 and try it.  Only $7.95.

Also, mine feed better when I keep the magazine loaded all the time.

Stay with light loads. The pistol is not for Heavy loads.I did bump up with +5% mag springs from Wolff.Good days and bad at range.Do you have the rounded slide? If it continues send it back.

Black K10 or Red mags? Have you put a flat bottom firing pin block in yet?

Thanks folks, mine has the red magazine top. The ammo I'm using is Hornady and HSM both with 180 grain JHP's. I'm using factory loads. Intercooler, can you give me more info on the firing pin block? I do have the kinda of rounded slide but my pistol is not the AE serial # slide, it is the EA serial # slide. Any more info will be greatly appreciated! K.C.

Firing pin block isn't going to help your jam issue.

They are available from Hennings at henningshoots.com.

Load the Mag with 10 rounds, not 12.FYI,it came to my attention sometime ago,EAA test fires with American Eagle 10mm,the weak stuff.

I don't know why Woff doesn't admit their 45 Xtra Power Mags Springs will work in the 10mm Mags too
You do have to cut a couple coils off for your Compact Mags though
So tell me again how Trump was worse then the 8 years before .... AND what came after HIM !

Decided to resurrect this older thread because I'm wondering about any mods I can do to make the Witness P more reliable.  A little background is in order.  I'm deciding whether to get the Witness P, or the Glock 29... or maybe a  RIA Ultra MS.  To be honest the RIA is too large and I'm just not "feeling" the Glock.  For some reason I keep coming back to the EAA.  I wonder if Tanfoglio has improved the reliability of the Compact model?  If not, what can I do to improve it's reliability with a wide range of ammo options?

Until they make compact mags like their K10's, I see no hope. Those 12 round glossy mags cause feeding issues all the time.

   Why a compact?

It will be a backup gun when I'm hunting and hiking, so it needs to be light and concealable...

Intercooler

  Don't like a shoulder holster?

What did EAA say about current mags coming with them?

I've tried several solutions, and none solved the problem.  Some things helped, but none fixed it.

The problem is the magazines are defective in their design.  The round clearly wants to rotate down as the slide catches it.  The exact same thing happens when you push the rounds out with your thumb.  When feeding in the gun, it simply drives the round into the bottom of the feed ramp with varying frequency.  I've tried different followers, different mag springs, different recoil springs, and I won't trust my life to it.  Sometimes I get three mags through it without a FTF, then I get three mis-feeds in a single mag, all with the same ammo.  I love shooting the compact steel.  It feels great in the hand, like the sights, decent trigger, and have fired VERY hot loads (Underwood stuff) and if the mag would reliably feed it, it would handle it just fine.

Keeping the mag stored filled is necessary just to keep sane, but its just a range toy for me.

Faulty mag design, I bent the followers by heating with a bic lighter to try to force it to feed nose up but no-go.  I've tried silicone, grease, slip-plate, on the followers, and then on the interior of the magazine.  I've tried to bend the mag springs so they would almost be banana shaped to try to feed node up, but the tendency to nose dive into the feed ramp just plain happens.

Re-design it and I'll be a customer.  I'd love it if I could carry the thing but I doubt it will ever happen.

I saw a post on another forum where the guy bent the front part of the mag spring up to give it more up pressure on the front of the follower.  Have you tried this... I will try to find the post and add a link.
