Here is a post from Eric Kincel on the AMT/Auto Mag forum about a week ago:

As of the first of the year, I no longer work for Vltor. I started a new job (and life) working as the Director of Research and Development for Bravo Company USA.

The offical statement from Gary Abrams (President and CEO of Abrams Airborne/Vltor) at the SHOT Show is that the Bren Ten will be avaliable by November of this year.

Keeping fingers crossed....

Sorry! I'd like to see the actual e-mail of this info or a web link to a actual post!  Otherwise it is just more of the same BS!  Been following this story for several years, still nothing!  >:(

I know what you are saying.  Eric is an Auto Mag enthusiast and posts infrequently on that forum.  He is also the founder of Vltor and has been General Manager of the firm until he parted ways with Abrams Airbourne/Vltor at the end of the year.  He is just repeating what he heard and I have not been able to find any public announcement to that effect.
I am not holding my breath either.

that would be great if they come out with a 10mm, I mean even RIA has one.

Intercooler

Beat on them. I do... do it often and maybe the bug will stay planted!

You can beat on their Facebook page easier. Many of us do often but no movement  :(

Maybe S&W will do an M&P at some point.

reply from S&W

Subject: 10mm

Dear Customer,

Thank you for contacting us.

Our product development team may be working on such a model. We will not know about a model until it is ready to be revealed to the public.

If further assistance is required please reply accordingly.

Sincerely,

S&W Joe NIEDZIELA

that is what I am talking about! All we can do is try.
:D

Not really much of an answer there. We MAY be working on one, but if we are I don't know? I'll know when the model finally comes out?

Was this guy a former politician or something.
Some people think I'm paranoid because I have so many guns. With all my guns, what do I have to be paranoid about?

The_Shadow

Meanwhile I keep pestering them on their Facebook page to build the M&P10mm! ;D

I swear Sarah must have been a political Science major! She isn't sure if anything is in the works, she probably won't know anything until they actually put a model out, will pass on the info to superiors....etc.

Same way a politician could talk about a subject for an hour and say ABSOLUTELY nothing about the subject! And then thank you for your interest!

I don't see what the big secret is.  I would lean toward it meaning they haven't jumped in head first on a 10mm platform.  If they have and know they will be putting one out, even if they can't say when, then what's the harm in saying so?  It's not like it's something someone could come back and sue you on.  And wouldn't the buzz created only be good for them?
Gun Control?  Oh yes, the theory that becoming a victim is somehow morally superior to defending yourself & your family.  Makes perfect sense.

Aegis

S&W and Springfield really need to make a 10mm.

REDLINE

Agreed.  It's beyond me they didn't years ago already.

I Thought S&W DOES make 10mm's.....I think it's a revolver and you have to use moon clips. Weren't they the ones that made a Semi auto 10mm for the FBI when the FBI was thinking of switching to 10's?

Yeah semi- Smith & Wesson's M1076
Revolver- Smith & Wesson's 610

And I believe because a 610 uses moon clips, it will also fire .40 cal S&W cartridges.

REDLINE

I believe the S&W 610 revolver was discontinued at some point.  If it came back into production or not I don't know.  Either that or I have no clue what I'm talking about.  Just seems like something I remember being the case at one time. :-\

All true.  Arguably the Colt Delta Elite and S&W 10XX series saved the 10mm from being a complete relic these days.  If they hadn't stepped up when Bren Ten went under, it would likely just be a footnote, and LE would be using the 41 AE as it's darling.

gandog56

Didn' tmost law enforcement go with .40 S&W instead of 10mm?

I heard the FBI quit because they thought it was "too rough" for a woman agent!
