I use to work for a European auto shop in Victorville and back in 2007 and I swear this guy would come through town and have us work on his Jaguar. He was LAPD and spent a lot of time in Vegas. Weird, hope they catch him.

Received an email from a friend who is still in the "Sour Orange". He saw cops on the sides of major freeways looking for the guy.

My friend drove his sedan instead of his truck since cops shot up two trucks with innocent occupants.

Apparently they put over thirty rounds into a truck driven by a little Asian woman because her truck looked similar to the perp's. Then, they rammed another truck before firing at it. Once again, the wrong guy.

They found his burned-out truck, so the freeways will be safer. But, now homeowners near Big Bear may need to duck.

Of all the police I've interacted with anywhere, the small subset from LAPD made me very uncomfortable. Can't generalize since I've only been involved with a few. But, I'm willing to consider he may have experienced what he wrote in his "manifesto". But his craziness and violence is not the cure.

Sad to read about his killing the daughter of a man he felt wronged him. Tragic all around.

The "most professional police agency" in the world is firing before being sure of their target.

Jeez, guys that is one of the basic four rules of gun safety.

I used to wear a uniform about a decade ago.  I know what it is like.  It bugged me then and it bugs me now the mantra of officer safety first.

The primary purpose of a law enforcement officer is to safe guard the rights of the citizens.  That is first.  Right after that is officer safety.  But instead every department I have been involved with has implemented policies which place citizens rights at risk in order to enhance officer safety.  And I think that is wrong.

It is a tragedy to see this man turn as he has.  And he needs to be found and stopped.  But at the rate they are going more citizens are going to be shot by the police than by the madman.

Anyone notice how the media cut out parts of his manifesto that didn't go along with their agenda? A terrible situation but they edit parts of the story to suit themselves. 'Leftist terrorists' aren't a good fit with their program.

Big Bear, where the burned-out truck was found is a city on a mountain range east of Los Angeles. It borders the San Bernardino National Forest, a dense evergreen forest.

I often had to have chains on my tires to make it up that mountain in the winter. Plenty of snow and ice. It would be difficult for Dorner to face a serious survival situation in the woods or to hike back down to the base. It's 30-40 miles from the winter in Big Bear to 'So. Cal' weather at the base. There are trails in the National Forest.  I'm sure the authorities are keeping eyes on them from the air.  Off-trail hiking would be very difficult, even in the summer.

I suspect he's holed up in a cabin. There are hundreds of vacation cabins in Big Bear that are vacant most of the time.

Or maybe had an accomplice drive the truck up there and torch it. This guy is highly trained.

I live in Adelanto which is about an hour and a half from Big Bear. My thinking is that he would drop over into Lucerne Valley or Hesperia.

Dead?  I dunno.  They say his wallet and/or driver license was found on a "body" in the basement.  Didn't they "find" his wallet and/or DL before, a week ago?  He had smoke grenades, and was seen in a photo/video leaving a sporting goods store with SCUBA gear.  Sounds like a combination for a planned escape from a "burning" building, to me.  They didn't see him leave, so maybe he did, maybe he didn't.  He's "disappeared", before.  I'll wait for the DNA and dental before believing he's really dead.  Either way wouldn't surprise me.  He's proved to be quite resourceful.

I've seen several references to Feinstein-Boxer stating they wanted the police and others to disarm, inducing Dorner to surrender.

They basically burned him alive. Guess rather than take the pain he just put one in his own head.

To the contrary... I just read a report where he died with NO smoke in his lungs...  Single GSW to the head... All reports are it LOOKS like suicide.
