The book is at 13.5 max so I loaded at 13 as I had to switch from large pistol primers to large pistol max primers but like a safety margin anyway. What does anyone think of this load?? I will shoot tomorrow. I have used AA9 in 357 for Desert Eagle in the past with no problems.  Craig

Craig, Accurate #9 has undergone several changes over the years.  My first experience with AA#9 was back when it was 100% microbead which was all Winchester 820.
Later they blended Winchester 350 with the 820 (the % of the blend also changed) No 9 Blend (WC 820 90%, WC 350 10% - 106/94)
Then they blended IMI#7 with the 820  No 9 Blend (IMI No7 20%, WC 820 80% - 118/92)
Now the newest is all flattened ball powder and is much better in my opinion that some of the older blends...

However the loading data never changed as the formulas were to make the same pressure values.

Hey Wade thanks for the input. I have had this powder for 10 years or so so that is one reason I load light with it. It was a very powerful round in 357 and I think I may have loaded it in 10MM but don't remember. Anyway it ought to be fun.  Craig

I like #9 for the velocity and accuracy I get in 10mm.  It also has a reasonable safety margin built into the process, which is you usually can't seat a bullet over a dangerous charge weight in 10mm.  Max loads are usually very compressed.

The downside of #9 is you are using 60-70% or so more powder than a comparable load with Longshot or BE-86.  And #9 usually costs more than other powders per pound.  Last time I did the math, it was easily the most expensive powder per shot to use in 10mm, by almost double in some cases.

I keep a pound on hand, but I don't reach for it often.

Well I shot the 10MM AA9 loads today and all I can say is WOW, WOW, WOW. Much stronger than my Power Pistol load but they were loaded very light max being 9.3 and I think I loaded like 6 or 7 but not sure as it was awhile ago.  The AA9 loads at 13.0 I could have shot all day but was loosing brass so I stopped!!!  I guess I shot like 20 rounds or less but only found 13 empties. Real fun though. Craig
