"Shadow" gun control

No, this is not a rant about how Wade holds his gun when shooting :-)

TV and Movie police shows are popular with my wife.  At the risk of dating myself, Castle, NCIS, Bones, etc. have all been shows that we willl binge watch.  One of the commonly pushed concepts on these shows is the idea that the government knows or should know what guns you own, AKA "registered".

I am gonna start calling this out as shadow gun control.  There are people I work with all the time that are nervous about getting a gun since they don't know how to own it "legally".  Or they have inherited or been gifted a gun and are now worried they are doing something wrong since it isn't "registered".  Or they are afraid to travel with a gun.

Just in the last two-three days on a popular social website I have seen people ask what to do about a lost bill of sale, how to deal with traveling (through AZ, NM, TX of all places), how to get a gun they already own from their parents home in another state.  And that is just a small sample.

And don't even get me started on rights, procedure, etc.

Just had to ven.  That is all.

Not to mention all the misinformation out there that muddies the water even further
