Thanks, I found a couple of boxes of Underwoods 200gr XTP in the safe last night that should work well for our deer opener on Saturday. I do have a few boxes of different weight Lehigh that could work as well

I think one of these should foot the bill for Saturdays opener, but will bring a slug gun if distance becomes an issue 😀

XTP has a good reputation but I will take the same grain weight WFN hardcast over it. I have not done gel testing, however in water soaked news print the hard cast always performed better. That said they have to shoot well from your gun and place, ent trumps every thing. But the more I shoot the more I test the more I lean to the hardcast for hunting. For SD not so ,icy because of overpenetration but hunting game thy WFN does some serious damage. A great book is one called Cast Bullet Performance by Veral he does an outstanding job explaining why.

Thanks, the books currently unavailable on Amazon, but would like to read it

Alaska

Underwood with 200gr XTP or jacketed Bonded Bullet.
No need for Hardcast bullets for deer.

I use 155gr XTPs loaded HOT! They are quite devastating on meat.
