Ah ha! Thanks, sqlbullet. What I was leading up to was to ask what the engineering obstacles might be in such an outfit. The BCG matches up conveniently for this application but I'm sure there are other considerations of which I'm not aware. It seems that all the wizardry would be in fab'ing a 10mm barrel with the standard AR DI features. Could this just drop on a suitable (pistol magazine) lower?

It is a std BCG setup for DI but there are special milling on the bottom of the carrier for clearance and proper feeding using the pistol mags that is completely different than and DI AR15 using std 556 mags.
I have a DI 10mm from Macon also.  I installed a Rubber City adjustable gas key and using the real heavy CMMG buffer I can run the heaviest loads without any case bulging now.   If I want to run std or light loads, I simply use an H3 or H buffer and not touch the adjustable gas key.
All of that on a CMMG Banshee lower.   I?m a lefty and the severe case bulging was just to unnerving for me looking into the ejection port.   So Rudy built me a great DI upper and dropped it onto my CMMG lower.

Awesome weapon!

Thanks Steve! That's what I was sorta figuring.

Plot twist!

The 400 Legend, designed for ARs. A lengthened 10mm case, 2.26" cartridge OAL and claimed ballistics of a 215 gr bullet at 2300+! Uses ordinary 223 lower, likely similar magazines and a 6.8 bolt!

VERY interested to see how this develops.

Just an update. After working on some things with Rudy mostly using a heavier buffer, and Rudy expanding the ejection port a bit, this thing eats (and poops out) anything and everything. I'm going to get the 45 ACP DI upper as well soon.

Some chrono info:

165gr FMJ 14.7 Accurate #9 1504-1508
180gr FMJ 10.9 Blue Dot 1406-1424 1 @ 1447.
187gr cast/PC 9.9gr Blue Dot 1368-1343 (I'm sure I can go hotter, but flying blind due to the weird weight).

Rudy has really good CS.  I've spoken to him a couple of times on arfcom but opted to build my own.  Which was the right decision for me.  I was able to have it working from the get-go using various parts and pieces from different manufacturers.  The only thing I have found is seating the bullets too short can cause feeding issues, but that's not really a specific gun problem and more just the angle that it feeds from the magazine with the lower that I'm using.

Were you able to get the 45acp yet?  That's another that I did.  To be honest, I did my 45 before I did the 10mm.  The 45acp is the one that sits beside of my bed for bumps in the night.  It's a beast and will run anything that I put through it, even including those light 4 grain clays powder loads under 230's that are so slow you can even watch them go downrange when you are in the right angle and amount of sunlight ha ha.

And I've ran +P 230's out of it all the same pushing right at 1000 fps, which is moving along for a 45acp.  Even considered trying to load some 45SMC bullets for it.  Though, I made mine more for a nice suppressed upper rather than squeezing every bit of power out of it that I can.  So, the +P's are what I keep in it and it's really nice.

This post checked by independent fact checkers, and they're all pissed off about it.

Very nice.  I thought about a 10 mm AR build but went with the TNW ASR in the end for a few hundred less.  SO far, I am really liking the TNW so no regrets yet.
