45 SUPER VS 10MM CONCLUSION
I could not leave well enough alone, I have been on a journey with 45Super for a number of years now and it?s all Brett?s fault. Though I have known of 45Super since the inception by Dean Grennell, with assistance from Tom Ferguson and Ace Hindman. It just never received much attention from me because I am a 10MM fan, I mean go figure growing up in South Florida during the Miami Vice Days. Then Brett introduced me to the Springfield V16 and then things got heated.

PUSHING 45SUPER AND 10MM TO THE BRINK OF FAILURE
All of this lead to, if 45Super and 10MM see?s this type of performance. What are they capable of out of a 16inch Carbine. As you can tell it took me a while to find someone  who had the right testing carbines. For the 45Super The M1 Thompson, and the Kriss Vector Gen2 for 10MM. We will be using the exact same lot number of ammo as we used in previous tests.

The 45Super out of the Thompson picked up a tremendous amount of velocity of 466fps. The 10MM on the other hand did not benefit as much from the longer barrel only picking up on average 87fps. The gel test told about the same story except in one category, from previous testing with the 45Super achieving greater penetration at 17in and the 10MM at 15in. The freedom pills themselves told a totally different story almost disintegrating, with the massive energy dump the wound track in the gel was huge.

good video, I have been playing with the .45 Super for a couple of years now. I think its the next step up to the 10mm in that it can shoot heavier bullets. I still like my 10mms and they have an advantage with higher magazine capacity but the .45 Super was such an easy conversion for my neglected .45 acp pistols. I had to experiment with it and now I'm hooked!
I'm not surprised that the JHP .45 bullet blew up so quickly going at those 16" barrel velocities. but I am glad to see that the lead core still penetrated 17"! I bet some cast lead powder coated or plated bullets would go a lot farther without shedding weight.

How does the 45 Super compare to the 460 Rowland?

460 Rowland was made to compete with the 44Mag I think that is a fair comparison.

I understand but how does the 45 Super compare, velocity wise?

I have a 460 Rowland Dino know what it will do. I know nothing about the 45 Super.

I set up a 5" M&P for a super, heavy Wolff spring and guide rod, Carver comp, 407 Holosun RDS. These were the Missouri coated bullets I settled on with 800x.

215gr FP 1354fps

225gr TC 1228fps

255gr FP 1127fps

There is a huge thread over on the Glock board on the Super of you have time to sift thru it.

mr.revolverguy, thanks for the video of these two cartridges~~~~~~~~Likely Nosler Bullets

Bullets lack construction for the speeds being pushed but still good results!
