I would love to see what these bullets do when loaded to 1250 fps.

A little info on the 175gr Flex loaded to 1300 fps, shot into wetpack ( completely soaked newspaper)

As The Shadow has stated ALL of the velocities on my posts were fired thru my guns.

Gary Reeder has done plenty of 10MM Mag conversions on the SW 610.

I bought the LWD 6.02" barrel for my G40 MOS and it runs and shoots very well at 50 yards. I have the Burris FF III on it and, works very well so far.
I bought (2) Arrendondo +5 Ext for the G40 mags, both are running good now after I worked on 1 a little to stop the follower from tilting in the mag and causing a jam.

Reloading 10mm ammo / Re: .41 Magnum bullets in a 10mm
April 20 2015 09:59:39 AM MDT
I have downsized many cast bullets from 41 to 40 when I was working up loads for my friends 10MM MAG revolver , even some 255 gr cast that I  downsized to 40 and shot in my STI 10MM at 900 fps.
Also some Sierra 41- 170 gr JHP  and Nosler 41- 210 gr JHP to 40, usually they shoot very well.
I go from .410"-.406"-.401".

My mistake they are 200 gr Gold Dot, bought from rocky mountain reloading.

Penetration is good but you also want tissue damage.
I am carrying 210gr WFNGC at 1250 fps in my STI 10MM or the 200gr HST at 1220 fps in a G20 SF.

Sean
They make a 200 grain HST? Heck, I'll carry some too. Whered you buy them?

Are the XTPs that much more accurate over the Nosler ?  My knowledge ( limited ) was at the upper speeds, the  XTP tended to loose fragments/petals and the while the Nosler didn't expand as much, it had a very similar penetration depth.

I went with Underwood as they were easy to obtain enough to test run a few boxes and still have enough for carry.

Set me straight please.

No , the Hornady's are not more accurate than Noslers BUT 10MM Hornady XTP's are a little better bullet for deeper penetration. The Nolser 180-200gr HP get the nod for expansion (expanded diameter =.550"+) and weight retention (90%+).
The 10MM -180gr -200gr XTP Hornady's I have tested consistently shed a little of the jacket and  keep penetrating
The Nolser has better weight retention and will expand to a larger diameter in my testing (soaked news paper). Larger diameter expansions also means it will open up and not penetrate as deep as Hornady's
Search here I have posted pics of the tested bullets, Hornady and Nosler.

I am suprised he is calling it a WFN. The meplat looks to be less than a LFN. I am sure it will be a good shooter.

I did not use any factory loads . I went to John Taffins site and started with his data on the 10MM Magnum.
I did take a little 1x4 whitetail buck with it at 22 yards , 180gr XTP at 1350 fps.

Seems like 475/480 (a member here) had access to a 10mm magnum.  I don't recall what loads he tried though.

Here is the thread.  Don't see any reports on factory ammo.
