Reloading 10mm ammo / Re: xtreme plated bullets

I've been using a redneck way of labeling. Just write the load on the side of the case with a sharpie. I'll write "#9 10.2" which indicates 10.2gr of AA#9. I've even used different colored sharpies and just written the load in grains. Each color represents a different powder. I'll attach a little sticky note with the powder name written in the same color sharpie ink.

This way works well in case the rounds spill in the range bag or something.
I use plastic sandwich bags and write on them with a Sharpie and drop 'em in a box.

Well, I'm not the best shot in the world and those were freehand. :))
I still have about 5 each of the loads left, so I may shoot them in my G20SF and Lone Wolf barrel.

This photo is with Titegroup a week earlier at about the same distance, 12 yards, G29.

Sounds like you've got something else wrong with that load. Undersized bullets? Damp cases? Bad powder or primers?

Power pistol is a great powder for most of the major pistol rounds. I really like it for 45 ACP +P 200gr loads. In the 10mm the burn rate is just a little too fast for max velocity, falling 50-100 fps behind a couple other powders like Blue Dot and AA9, but it is still a good choice. It works fine for mid-range loads too, so I don't think your loads should have performed like that, if all was as it should be.

Edit - just a thought, there's a good chance those plated bullets just don't work well with your stock Glock barrel. They may be too small for the bore, and/or too soft to grip the rifling. Most plated bullets can't handle being pushed too fast either (1,000 fps or so).
I've used the same bullet with Titegroup and HS6 loaded to around 950-1000 fps and it works great. Will try to upload a pic if I can.
Looks like they start to look better at 7.6 grains, at least not tumbling. May try to increase charge.
I really like the Power Pistol with the .45acp, has a nice tight group.

Maybe I need to bump up to around 8.0-8.4 and see how they perform.
I'm just trying some different powders that I have on hand. I like the HS6 but don't have much of that left.
I have a good supply of Bullseye that I'm using for .45acp but I really like the Power Pistol for that one also.

I loaded up some test loads of Power Pistol from 7.2-7.6 grains with an Xtreme 180gr plated hollow point for my G29. They sucked to say the least. They chronographed from 313-431 fps, if my chrono was accurate. All shots before and after the 10mm loads seemed to chrono correctly. Shots were all over the place and keyholed like crazy and also some of the brass got caught in the slide on ejection. I think I must have been much too low on the powder charge but was going by one of my reloading books.
I used the Power Pistol at 6.6 grains under an Xtreme 230 RN plated bullet in my G30S .45ACP and it was very accurate at 12 yds.
What do y'all think?

I'm really happy with the Xtreme 180 gr. HP in my G20 and 29. Shot some yesterday at a plate rack and it knocks 'em down like a sledge hammer. I load mine less than 1000 fps and get good accuracy.

I use Xtreme plated bullets at about .12, primers .03, and powder .03, for a total of 18 cents each. I've managed to save a good supply of brass from factory ammo I've shot. I also have a good supply of new Winchester and Starline that is still new and unfired that I'll use when I decide to load hotter. Right now I"m happy at low to mid range for practice. I've used my G29 in GSSF matches for Major Sub and Heavy Metal and lose the brass but really enjoy shooting it.

I added my 3 cents worth since I own a G20 and two 29s. All mine are Gen3 SF models. Do I need a Gen4 29?

In addtion to the other fine manuals mentioned, I use one called One Book, One Caliber which I paid less than $10 each. The book for 10mm also has loads for .40S&W.
I'm new to reloading but found a nice used Dillon 650 that really suits my needs. I did a lot of studying and watching videos for about a month after I got it before I made my first round. I started slowly with 9mm because that is what we shoot the most, and then progressed to loading light 10mm loads for practice. I have a couple of nice soft shooting loads for the 10mm that I really enjoy shooting. Only problem is finding brass that is reasonable. I hate to lose it at organized matches that are "lost brass"  matches. If you have brass and can recover it, you can load for less than 20 cents a round.

Do the copper plated bullets hold up to the 10mm higher velocities ?
I don't load mine over 1100 fps and that's for GSSF matches. I try to get my loads as accurate as possible because I'm not. :))

Thanks for the info Wade, but no 200 gr there either.  :(

I've been using 8.0 grns of HS6 with an Xtreme plated 180 gn HP with Fed primers. Shoots accurate in both my G20 and G29.

I'm assuming you mean for 10mm. The only two COLs I've seen for any bullet is 1.250 or 1.260 but I'm far from knowing a lot.

General Discussion / Re: next president

With the direction things are going, I'm not sure we'll have a next president. Actually, who in their right mind would want to take over this floundering ship? I guess another king.
