You need more trigger time. I am not trying to be rude, but that isn't that great. Especially for having an optic mounted (even just a 1X).

I sold the pistol and the issue went away.  :P  I am going to get a Glock. Should have gotten one in the first place.

Gunblast is one of the first sites I check when looking for a review on a firearm. Mr. Quinn's reviews are full of good information and not just a sales pitch.

If you read this Jeff I just want to say hi and thanks for all the good info over the years!

Now to the Delta Elite. I have the newer one and it eats brass. It is going out the door. Figures I would get the dentmeister.

General Discussion / Re: Kevin kicking but in .380

Start poking holes in people with high velocity projectiles, and they tend to knock off whatever stupid act they were involved in. Would I prefer a .380? No, but I would not feel "naked" or undergunned with one either.

Wow Grim Reaper. It is obvious that spelling is not required when telling somebody they will fail. I like the forum. Everybody has been very helpful so far, and I appreciate it.

General Discussion / Re: Why 10mm?
June 30 2012 04:40:04 PM MDT
My non-emotional reason for the 10mm:

I live in Nevada and hike the Sierra Nevada mountains on a regular basis. One day a mountain lion let me and my buddy know that we were not welcome in his parts. My 357 felt like a pee shooter even though it would more than likely do the job.

So I researched, crunched numbers, etc. It all came back to one cartridge. The 10mm. It can be very powerful, but not as obnoxious as the 44mag and 41 mag. It can be shot from easily packed and concealable platforms. It seemed the perfect cartridge for animal defense where I am and I where I roam. As an added benefit it is a great cartridge for self defense from two legged predators as well.

No emotion involved. I had a goal and the 10mm meets it.

Guys:
I must have head up "you know where" regarding my original post and subsquent reply. My Delta Elite was not ported per say (barrel and slide drilled). My 'smith just relieved the ejection port similar to the Gold Cup slide. This did eliminate all case crease  damage. Sorry for my "senior moment".   :)

So that's all it took huh? Can you post pictures of the part your smith relieved? I would very much appreciate it!

I wish my barrel offered that much support. My Delta Elite is the newer version, so Colt should have been aware of the issues the 40 S&W faced with unsupported chambers and high pressure.

Oh well. I will just shoot the gun within it's limitations and look for a 10XX Series S&W.

I still wouldn't want to be shot with it as is. Now I need to break the chrony out. Also now that I have a pressure/charge ceiling I can start tampering with bullet diameter, lube, and alloy to get rid of leading issues.

@DEGoldCUp- Do you get the nicks in your brass from the Delta Elite when it ejects brass? Also at what point with the 800X did you see bulged cases, if any? That is a comforting picture to see.

Hmmm. The Delta seems limited in it's potential. I talked to a few people who have owned Deltas in the past, and they had the same issue when they started to sneak up on the full bore stuff. I am looking for non glock 10mm pistol that has a fully supported chamber and can run the 10mm to it's full potential.

I throw this offer out there. I will trade my Delta Elite for one of the S&W 10XX series pistols. The Delta has been 100% reliable. If you are interested send me a PM here or E-mail me at shedd84@yahoo.com.  To see pics you will have to e-mail me at my persoanl e-mail

I bought this gun with the intention of using it as mountain lion protection. It appears that it can't fulfill that role. Time to go.
