As a manufacturer, you just cannot just build plants to satisfy temporary shortages.  That can only be done when you can demonstrate long term demand that will make it a wise investment.  I believe all our ammo/powder/primer producers have increased production, and done so in the face of more and more red tape and uncertainty from government agencies.

I'm speaking of myself here, and I may or may not be typical.  I used to buy 1 lb containers of powder.  I now buy 4 & 8 pounders because its not assured I'll be able to find it if I run out.  Heck, I get twitchy when I'm down to 1 pound left now days.  Same goes for primers, bullets, brass....  I have maybe 15,000 upscale 22LR on the shelf too.  I haven't over paid on anything, but I can shoot when I want.  If everyone is similar to me, alot of the shortage is on our shelves as saftey stock.  I suppose you can call me a hoarder, but that is what panic buying is all about.  You have to fill your needs when the opportunity presents itself instead of when its truely needed.

It will get back to normal, at least I hope so.  We will see what happens when the next president hits office.  We'll see how many mass shootings happen in gun free zones.  We'll see how the regulatory agencies ban lead, or other chemical compounds necessary to make our products.  That makes for great fodder for the scalpers to drive up black market prices, but I don't buy from them.  I made a list and check it twice, if they took advantage of their customers by doubling their prices or worse, I'll pay a bit more to buy from those that maintained their moral business practices.

Fact remains we don't produce crap in America anymore for what ever stupid reasons the over educated bean counters and cloak and dagger investors think they are entitled to. As a poor investor and researcher all of consumer powder is made off shore. Or in Canada. It's insane. I work with several US arsenals and ammo plants. It seems the only thing we make are high explosives. And over priced ordnance. China makes the electronics the UK, Canada and Australia makes our small arms powder. What in the hell is wrong with that picture?

We really have turned into a lazy and greedy lot in America. And then wonder why.

Reloading / Hodgdon CFE Pistol Powder
May 23 2014 11:37:08 PM MDT
I was at my local loading shop the other day and they had some CFE Pistol powder. The loads looked good in there hand out load pamphlet. So I bought 1lb and 250, 230gn RN plated .45acp bullets. They are a heavy plated Argentine bullet. I've shot 10k or so of the 9mm RN bullets.

Has anybody played with this so called copper fouling eraser powder?

I think we can all agree on a striker drag.

Look at the other fired brass. All of it shows the classic Glock smeared striker retraction mark. Glocks are known for this regardless of caliber or load. If you want to look for a brass bulge concerning Glock anything barrel. Just look below the lower striker/primer bulge.

If your sure of your powder load. Thats a brass failure with sorry Glock OEM barrel. While many shoot your powder in 10mm. It's not a powder I would use. Nor will I use that bullet anymore.

There is a chance that was a double detonation shot. But that is a very very slim option seeing how fast the powder is versus the bullet weight and diameter.

That was defective PPU Brass. And striped brass support.

My most accurate loads are max book and farther. But not in the worthless OEM Glock barrel! LOLOLOLOL I've never shot the worthless Glock barrel.

G20 is a Blue Dot load.

The .357 Mag is a honest 1425 fps chronograph load in that pistol. 1375 out of the wifes 60 Pro.

The 10mm BD and Mag ( fed ) primer load is a honest 1575 fps load.

Why play with the useless 135gn Nosler bullet?

#1 - The Nosler 135gn JHP is a near worthless bullet in 10mm/.40. It can go real fast and be near worthless concerning construction and SD. And this is one of the few bullets that SD really makes the difference. In this weight and caliber a so so 125gn .357 mag really is a better load.

#2 - One should be able to get a discount if they buy a Glock NIB less a OEM Glock barrel! My OEM G-20 barrel has never had a round one shot through it. It's so whore loose chamber wise I would never subject real 10mm ammo to it's dimensions. Much less .40 short&weak class ammo.

Best Tip?

Check Weights!

If it was just one 10mm load. It would be my 180gn XTP's over 11gn of Blue Dot. If I could buy the bullets on a whim like I do the XTP's, Gold Dots would work great!

I would safety check some of the ammo load wise. Then enjoy the blast fest!

But over all I don't see any real value in 10mm ammo lighter than 155gn. Yeah it goes fast! But my study has shown me a 125gn .357mag is far better than 135gn 10mm. Something about SD coming into to play.  8)  155gn and up bullets is where the .357mag falls off against 10mm regardless of barrel length.

Enjoy the ammo that may have come from a past master. It has all sorts of cool attached to it. :)

You might be correct on that one. I wonder how the Glocks are going to fair with this load? These may be a one and done.

I figure my LW 5.15" barrel and chamber would do fine with that load. Lord knows I've blown the wings off Angles with XTP's from 155gn to 200gn. And the good Lord knows I've went nuke with the worthless 135gn Noslers. Fun to shoot. But a 125gn full house .357 mag shines against that worthless 135gn bullet in 10mm.

I am really disappointed to see that hogs belly in the brass.  :(  I linked up one of my Co-Workers that shoots a EAA Match something or other Witness 10mm. A really sweat pistol. And he fell out looking at that bulge. He could not believe his eyes. He has sprung up his Witness. And loves shooting bad ass 155 and 180gn loads out of it.

Would a Witness Hunter produce this sorry result?

I recently bought 500 pieces of used brass and 57 of those had small primers. I probably won't mess with them. I have .25 each in them if anyone is interested.
