General Discussion / Re: Obama Executive Orders on guns
January 02 2016 03:43:45 PM MST
This is carefully being engineered to make the GOP look bad and an effort to enhance the likelihood of a Democrat remaining in the White House.

Interlace (and I hate to use the term) common sense or logical sounding requirements like reporting lost or stolen guns, that really have no bearing on the 2A right to bear arms, with the ones that will do serious 2A damage, and when the GOP tries to circumvent the Executive Order, the Dems will cry foul hiding behind the "benign" provisions asking why the GOP is against the reporting of stolen guns.

To many voters that only go by the liberal News media snippets, that will sound reasonable and the GOP comes off sounding like a bunch villains.

The GOP needs to be smarter than Obama on how they handle his antics.

10mm semi-auto handguns / Got me a S&W 1066
November 22 2013 03:26:03 PM MST
I posted this over at my main hang out, the S&W forum.

I call this my 10MM trifecta.

I'm in CA and with our draconian handgun laws, obtaining out of production handguns brings a bunch of challenges.  I've been extremely lucky to have previously acquired a 1076, and then a 1006. I thought, well... that will be it.

Last week much to my great surprise, a 1066 showed up on Armslist that was within reasonable driving distance. It cleared the CA 10 day waiting period yesterday and I brought it home. I'm completely stoked.... and learned not to say "that will be it" anymore.  ;)

"Take a look at the whats going on in Washington, every one of the proposed gun control bills is dead or dying with no hope of passage."

The REAL threat is from the State and Local level politicians where the anti-everything legislative actions are very alive. That spokesman for Hodgdon that made that statement needs to pull their head out of their behind and look at the legislation being passed and signed into law in CA, CO & NY, and what's being proposed in other  States such as VA, which has historically been gun friendly.

Here in CA there are 40+ bills introduced and working through the legislative process. Other States are sitting on the side lines waiting to see what sticks, and then you can be sure that what was done here will begin to make it's way to other states like a fungus... and CO is a prime example.

I'm sorry, but I really get PO'ed seeing people assume the threat is over just because the Fed's did not do anything... they don't have too, they can sit back on their behinds, and let the States take the lead.

General Discussion / Re: Introductions
April 16 2013 01:36:57 PM MDT
Greetings... just checking in after joining yesterday. After making a post over on the smith-wessonforum about finally becoming a S&W 1006 owner, it was suggested that I take a look over here... well I did and I really liked what I saw.

In addition to the newly acquired 1006, which I've been wanting "forever",  I've also had a 1076 for about 6 months, but have yet to fired a single 10mm round what with the dismal situation of ammo availability.  But... I'm a long time reloader too (started at 16 and I just turned 60), I just latched onto a bunch of starline 10mm brass and now I'm off to look for some good recipies  ;D

Part 2 of the Handloader "Cartridge Board" article is all about the .40 S&W... if you're still interested, I'll scan it for you. BTW... Handloader magazine is published every other month so there's no March issue.
