If you end up not getting a Kimber may I suggest you have a look at the Dan Wesson Razorback. I know I was at a gunshow last week and ran into an armorer that works on a lot of 1911's and he handed me a bag of parts. I said what are these and he said broken kimber mim made parts. DW's have no mim parts, they use Ed brown and egw tool steel machined parts. I guess you could always put better parts in it though if something does go bad. I just thought I'd mention this to you.

That's a great program they have and the government hands out the ammo. What's not to like too bad the US doesn't follow suit.

That's good news did you modify the new slidestop?

Got it and pm back at you.

Thanks Intercooler, how's the Razorback doing now with the new slidestop.

Which ones do you have 1325 fps? or 1240 fps?  Both of these have been pulled and documented...
If you still want to have some pulled e would be happy to post the findings. ;D
The 1325 fps loads, sure you can pull a couple for yourself and the folks around here with the data, and If you'd like maybe chrono a couple as well.

Shadow, I've got some 200 grain SF ammo, I could send you a couple if you'd like to check them out for yourself. Send me a pm if interested.

You can read my stop failure and what I just did as a try. Can you post some pictures of it? In particular the impression and angle.
I'm kind of a dinosauer when it comes to pics I guess. The lower corner at the leading edge of the back..front portion of the notch is getting smashed to the point that the metal is raised and sticking out,you can feel it and see it. I've got two 1911's doing this now so I'm beginning to think it has something to do with the UW Nickle plated 200 gr. Xtp's maybe being over pressured or something. I wonder if I went to a lighter weight Underwood 155 or 165 grain loading if it would be less punishing on my guns. Thanks,

Off topic area / Re: Zimmerman not guilty

It's Trevon's own fault this happened in the first place by not going straight home and then attacking Zimmerman and more or less trying to kill him. It could have very well been Zimmerman that was killed by having his head bashed repeatedly on the concrete. I believe the trial was fair as well as the outcome, Zimmerman was fighting for his life imo.
Below are some FBI Stats I ran across that are quite interesting. Why don't they list these stats on the nightly news, which would put a lot of things into perspective.

This is the problem with these gun auctions as I see it as well as auctions in general. It only drives the prices of guns up and sellers think or demand a higher price on guns down the line. I remember when I used to get the gunlist paper from 1986 until somewhere around 2005 or a little later. You could find a lot of good prices and get good deals on guns in that rag and when the auctions popped up online the prices of guns skyrocked. I guess if you've got the $$ price doesn't matter to some, but paying custom gun prices for production guns is just insane.
I myself like the buy now price method at least you know where you stand if you want to buy a gun.

10mm semi-auto handguns / Re: Razorback broke today

Boy I don't know I'm just as confused as you are. I noticed though that my slidestop on my DW-Cbob doesn't go all the way into the cutout like it should. I've heard everything from heavier springs to flat bottom stops to fitting the slidestop into the notch better. I think I'll put in a call to DW next week and see what they can do for me. I'm not very mechanically inclined and tend to break stuff when trying to fix stuff. ::)

Very cool! What are is the peening? Can someone circle it or show what they did so I can do a check when the new piece arrives?
Here's your pic as I don't have one of my gun. If you look at your slidestop notch that comes up to lock your slide back when your mags empty you can see were the metal is getting displaced-raised and distorted at the back bottom corner where the slidestop is banging against the notch. If you run your finger down the side of the slide over the notch you can probably feel the metal starting to stick out. It'll probably get worse when shooting nuclear loads.

I am not bagging on EAA for sending your friends gun back with adjustable sights.  But....I would bet money that happened because they already had a slide laying there with adjustable sights on it.

Not outstanding CS, just laziness that worked to their advantage.  IMHO.
Now that I think about it your probably right. Good call,
