I have a few and I like them.  The price is high even in todays market.  No parts avialable.  Mags are like almost impossible to find.  They were made in both Starvel (Nickel) and Blue.  The blue seems to be a bit harder to find.  Less made?

On the plus side they are buildt like tanks.  Very heavy which soaks up recoil better than almost any other 10mm.  Not what I would call a carry piece though.  Unless your very fond of big and heavy.  The grip is a good size for the double stack mag (14 rounds).  Kind of like G20 size.

I personaly would not pay over like $650 for one.  It is more of a H. D. gun or a range toy than anything.

I have used this item to recover and transfer data from not completely dead drives on a couple occasions.  Worth having around for those times.

Smith added a lock to the frame located partly under where the cyl. release is.  It is still found on almost all Smith wheel guns today.  This change happened with the -3 rev. on the 610.

The gun on the auction (sold already) looks like a no dash (origional release) with a 6 1/2" barrel.  The no dash were made in 5" and 6 1/2".  The 5" usually goes for more money.  The no dash also had a hammer fireing pin and no transfer safety and a fluted cyl.  They had a slightly better trigger pull without all the extra stuff added.  The origional release also came with half moon clips instead of full moon.

Asked my dealer for one before they were even released but never got it.  Would love to have one but they are crazy now.
FYI for those that have one.  Hornady and Speer have released 22 mag ammo that is designed for short barrels.  It makes the pistol much more effective as you are not just burning powder.

The big fireball is cool but not very efficient.

Always wanted to do that when I was more in funds but never found a Vaquero .40 at a reasonable price.  I will have to be happy with the Buckeyes.

We lost one tree, otherwise ok.  Lots of neighbors without power still.  Many roads closed.

10mm semi-auto handguns / Re: Megastar

The Megastar, like the LAR Grizzly, is so massive and heavy it makes the 10mm a joy to shoot.  Try it you will like it.  Down side is parts and mags are very difficult to come by.

Is it the starvelle finish?  (Looks like stainless but it is a nickle plate.)

Gear/Equipment / Re: Headlight for a G20?
July 14 2012 10:22:22 PM MDT
Stuck a rail light on my G20 when it was being fired with stout DT loads.  I can't remember if it was a streamlite TR1 or the Sig equivalent.  After a few rounds it went sailing.  Kind of dinged up the light a little.  I was britty sure I had it on tight but I'm getting old so you never know.

Havent tried it since.  Check it out before you assume it will stay there.  Them 10's they do kick.   ;D

I have read, but not been able to verify, they were a follow up to the Olympic Arms Co.  The Olympic's were very similar in design and looks.  Like the Laseraim they were reported to have more than there share of problems.
