Reloading 10mm ammo / Re: 10mm brass, when to discard

I use them till they split... Don't see this till about 15x reloaded. Starline brass is prob 95 % of what I reload with.
But as mentioned, I do a few push tests on the rounds during set up.  Measure and then press against the bench, then remeasure to check for loose fit

Other brands are kept totally separate as some of the brands are a bit more "springy" and fail to hold set from the die... these get thrown away.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner! :) I keep loading them until they split or become loose.

Reloading 10mm ammo / Re: Small primers

Ok, kind of makes sense.  Trust me, I'll load these but I'll use a hand primer or load them at the end as I don't want to change up the priming system in my progressive for 63 cases.  I've still got a thousand to load.

Reloading 10mm ammo / Small primers
October 16 2022 08:19:12 PM MDT
Bought 500 round of mixed brass.  Guy sent 550 because there was some small primers mixed in.  63 to be exact.
Question, is there an advantage to small primers?  I have several boxes of Federal 200 grain HST ammo.  They appear to be all small primer.  What gives?

Reloading 10mm ammo / Re: Hornady Lock N Load AP

Ade Ruger to the list.  Bought a vaquero 2nd hand.  Shot way left.  Called them.  They sent a box, FedEx.  I sent the revolver along with a target at 7 yards along with factory load I used.  About 10 days later I  got the gun back with a new target.  Dead center.  Cost? Zero 0 zero.  Awesome customer service.

Reloading 10mm ammo / Hornady Lock N Load AP

Not trying to start a war, just want to pass on some great customer service.  I've similar results from the blue guys and the green guys.
Anyway, Called Hornady this afternoon as I'm needing some small parts and springs to rebuild my press which has loaded in the 10's of thousands of rounds over the years.  After giving the nice lady the parts I need she said, OK, we'll ship those right out to you.  I asked if they needed my CC?  She says nope, covered under the warranty.  Now I've had this loader for 15+ years?  Even the small parts are covered?
In today's world where it's hard to get people to show up to work and customer service seems something of the past, Hornady is still looking out for their customers.

I have used thousands of their plated bullets without any complaints.  .38, 9mm,10mm, 41, 44, & 45.  I highly recommend them.

10mm semi-auto handguns / Best 1911 for less than 2000.
August 07 2022 03:29:40 PM MDT
I have a Springfield TRP in 45 acp and love it.  Bought it years ago.  Just getting back into the 10mm stuff and I thought, I'll just get a 10mm TRP or Operator.  Then I woke up.  They discontinued the TRP?  Are they nuts?
Anyway, the gun will be used mostly on steel, might kill a deer, might not.  What's out there for under 2,000 that's decent?  I've nosed around on gunbroker and there is a bunch of 1911's I've never heard of.

I recently got one. :D. My guy found it through a wholesaler in Texas.  The dark bronze color.  I've also got a Glock 20 so I'm no stranger to the 10.  Well, no stranger than most.  I'm impressed with this little guy.  I've only got about 300 rounds through it, no issues so far.
