I don't own any Glock pistols but I thought the type of rifling they use is not recommended for cast bullets?

It may be in the notes from Glock, maybe CYA,  but just requires knowledge of what your doing... proper size of bullet, hardness, maybe gas check.

have fired many lead only rounds in my G20... no more leading than any other gun .
I did a little more research and the issue with lead bullets mentioned was related to the type of rifling used in the barrels causing lead bullets to not engage the rifling well.  Sounds like the latest generation Glocks use a more traditional rifling.

Reloading / Re: Midway USA problems

The only problem I ever had with Midway was one time the package of parts I ordered was short and they replaced it no question.  I tend to wait until they have free shipping unless it is something I have to "have it now".

Reloading / Re: Is 100 rounds a lot??

I usually load 50 to 200 rounds max on the Lee turret press in a session.  When I reload 45 ACP on the Dillon 550B progressive that is usually 500 in a session.  I have done 2000 in day on the Dillon but that is not fun after the first 1000.

I use that in the washing machine but I never thought to use it to clean cases.

I think it is just citric acid powder with some lemon oil for scent so if you use a lot it might be worth making it from bulk.

Most people find a hot 45-70 very painful due to recoil.
I'll agree with that in my Marlin 1895.

Just curious what are you considering hot loaded 45-70 cartridges?

Buffalo Bore advertises 45-70 "Magnum" cartridges and state to use only in Ruger #1,#3 also Marlin 1895 and Marlin 1895 guide gun made after 1972 which I have a Guide Gun in 45-70.
Are you saying that the Marlin 1895 lever actions made after 1972 can also handle the 40,000 psi loadings?
I'm just repeating what is on the Buffalo Bore site for all to read.
I can say my handloads that duplicated close to Buffalo Bore site "Magnum" loads were not pleasant to shoot in range session.  One or two shots in the field would be tolerable.

I read the story in your link.  My start with the 10MM is that I purchased a "gunsmith" fit 10MM Bar Sto barrel on ebay (I think) for a bargain and I fit it to my Kimber 38 Super.  That was a lot of hand filing and fitting.  My first attempt at fitting a barrel and it works great.  Other than the initial fitting it took a lot less fiddling to make it reliable than the RIA factory 10MM.  New magazine, 10MM extractor, 22 lb recoil spring.  I can convert back and forth in just a couple of minutes.

I would like to find another Kimber 38 Super and leave the old 38 Super pistol converted to 10MM.  It is a lot more fun to shoot both in 38 Super and 10MM and just plain works better than the RIA.

Had I read your post I earlier I might have saved myself a lot of work.
Then again I wasn't expecting the pistol to be 100% right out of the box at the price point and I like a challenge.

Last range outing my RIA Ultra FS was finally reliable.  Quite a journey to get there.  Not expensive but time consuming.  Final list of changes includes:
GI mainspring - the RIA spring was weak causing failure to fire/light firing pin strikes/issues.
GI firing pin spring - RIA spring was definitely not the same as standard spring.
Ed Brown 40/10MM extractor - factory extractor ejected brass went in all different directions including causing case jams.
22 LB recoil spring.
Flat Bottom firing stop which combined with the 22 LB recoil spring solved the last issues of locking back before magazine was empty, even with a 24 LB recoil spring.
Kimber 10MM magazine - may try a different spring in the factory magazine.

As noted by another forum member, now the trigger pull is 6 Lbs but crisp.  I may try to work on that some but it really does not bother me much.
I like the looks and features of the RIA for the price but I don't think I will be buying another.

Thanks 38_super for the input!! I did find a missing Lee #6 which works for the 9mm so I now have 2 of the number 6's to use with another 9mm shell holder I found yesterday. The problem is all the company's use there own numbering system so after you buy a holder and time marches on the number on it means nothing to me.  Craig
Yes and a given company may change the dimensions of the same shell holder over time.  I bought a Lee die set for 30 Super Carry.  The shell holder was too loose.  I dug through my Lee shell holders and found a Lee that fit perfectly.  I sent Lee an email and they mailed me a shell holder of that number.  30SC case won't quite fit in the new shell holder.  However the new shell holder fits the cartridge it is spec'd for so I just put the old one with the 30SC dies set and the new on with the original die set.

I think you need a Lee #19.

Thanks for the tip.  Did you need to do any adjusting of the spring?
