10mm semi-auto handguns / Re: EAA Witness Compactb10mm

Old thread I know, but...

I have an Elite Match and compact versons of the 10mm.  I have run the compact barrel/slide on the Match frame for years.  It's been my go-to gun for outdoors: hiking, backpacking, motorcycle camping, etc.  Only downside is the weight.

I did have to bevel slightly the top of the chamber opening to keep cases from hanging up when chambering, but it's been pretty much flawless since then.  Not a ton of rounds through it, but never had trouble.

Most days mine is a G26 w/ 15rnd mags.

Sometimes and particularly for outdoor / camping / hiking, a semi-compact 10mm Witness:

That's a Match single action frame w/ compact upper.

The Olympic is blowback, chances are the other one is too.

Nope.  The RMW upper is gas operated & that's its major advantage.  Ron has been working for years with gas operated pistol caliber uppers.  10mm, .40, .45, .357 sig, and a few others.  Even 9mm, though that one requires hot loads to work properly.

You don't want the red follower! It should come with one black follower K10 if it is new issue. Go to GunBroker and order the K10's. I purchased 4 all at once that way on a good deal. They all work flawless!

I haven't been keeping up lately.  What's wrong with the red follower mags?  I've had several for years and never had a problem with them.  Of course, I don't shoot as much as I'd like.  Should I expect problems with them?

Houlster, how is the compact reliability wise?

Out of the box, I had a series of jams where the front of the cartridge case would catch on the top edge of the barrel as it was entering the chamber.  The edge had a very sharp corner.  (Which frame it was on didn't matter)  On my Match, the inside edges of the chamber opening are very slightly radiused.  I filed a small radius into the top edge on the compact's barrel the same way and it's been 100% since then.

I haven't shot it a ton, but it's been good since this change.  Probably 400 - 500 rnds total.  I've also had very good luck with my 7 or 8 magazines.  I had to sand down the base plate on a few of the 15 rnd replacement mags to seat fully in the Match, but have never had a magazine or other problem besides the above.

Witness Elite Match:

And a compact:

Typically, I keep the compact slide/barrel on the Match frame.  I like the fullsize, SA frame & the 15 rnds with a shorter slide for carry.  This is my hiking/backpacking gun:
