I signed up! The posting though was for a .45 not a 10mm...I'll take whatever they send me if I win!

General Discussion / Re: Best 10mm Brass
May 08 2014 05:52:02 PM MDT
I don't have the most knowledge compared to a lot of guys on here but in my experience Winchester seems to hold better for more hot rounds. By feel of loading them it seems the brass may be a touch thicker but that's subjective info.

General Discussion / Re: Your "New York" Gun

I'd use what I have just max the mag to 7 rounds to be compliant. That said my Smith 310 would fit the bill if my semis caused trouble

Reloading 10mm ammo / Re: xtreme plated bullets

In my G20 I have pushed the 180 FP and HP by xtreme to 1300+ without tumbling (storm lake barrel at 6"). What distance are you seeing the tumbling?

I've loaded thousands on my Lee turret. You can get nicely priced starter kits too. A couple books you should read are the ABCs of Reloading and the Lee manual. From these you will get a basic understanding of each process as well as the Lee equipment.

When it's up above .50 per round for target ammo... that's it for me , I'm done.

But since I can't mail order ammo in this crap state of NY, I have to reload...
At least I can keep it down to .10-15 per round with plated heads... makes me like almost living in the past.   :)

The state police haven't gotten the funding to start the ammo checks yet. Its my understanding that you can buy online until implemented. That said plenty of sellers are refusing to sell online to NY anyways. Gotta love this state...

That Caldwell deal seems pretty good. That said I have a prochrono and am satisfied with its abilities.

Reloading 10mm ammo / Re: 10mm practice bullets
March 25 2014 05:14:44 AM MDT
I use mainly xtreme bullets for my practice ammo. For 40 and 10 I use their 165 and 180 fn and hp plated rounds. There tend to be the cheapest unless you go hard cast.

Reloading 10mm ammo / Re: xtreme plated bullets

I use a kkm 40 and a storm lake 10mm for my glock. I push frequently in the middle 1200s with good accuracy for the 10mm loads (power pistol mainly)

BTW thanks for the code! I got an order in with it.

That's funny I've never looked them up to see if I could order directly. I'm glad I haven't paid much more than their prices posted today. Do you mind sharing the code?

Reloading 10mm ammo / xtreme plated bullets

I love using these guys for 9mm, 40, and 10mm. I was wondering where you guys purchase these as I only have one place (TJs) online that sells them at s decent price?

Also how do their HP rounds stand up to say an XP?

The g20 gets more use in a shoulder holster but I also bring the smith 310 for a smaller package.

I tend to carry the 180gr XTP for my SD rounds with Power Pistol. I just figured a little lighter hollow point might get pushed just a bit faster to give a better ft. lb. of energy to the target if needed.

Really, its just winter and I am tinkering more with my reloading than a need to find "the perfect round."   :P

I have a storm lake that I like a lot. Kkm and bar-sto would be the top choices for top dollar.
