Hello from the Eastern Shore of the peoples republic. There are many good things about MD, one of which is the fact you can earn a good living in the people republic, but its only a short drive to enjoy the virtues of WV. MDs hunting is still good and the fishing is still reasonable.
The 10mm ix respectably. its th first round I can shoot successfully at 100 yds.

Most of the brass I loose burns up on re-entry.
I shoot in my pasture and what I've gone to, semi fixed is atarp.  Fire a few rounds to establish a base impact zone. Then sort of centre 10x12 tarp on the zone, Raise the distant end to farm an "L" that will stop the longer runners and bounce them back on the tarp. Landscape fabric might be a tad better since the brass won't skitter as easily. I don't think I loose 5%, probably less

I wlnderfstarline could be induced to make primers too?  They seem to be somewhat more efficient in filling voids and supply gaps.

10mm Hunting / Re: Feral hog hunting and trophies
May 19 2021 10:30:02 PM MDT
I'vE hunted with Fox-Brown outfitters in FL, near Okechobee. Its a unique experience with hunting done with swamp buggies and dogs. Shots will be likely at short range with hogs stopped by dogs.
Killed one we estimated at over 400#. We had to remove a lot of excess to get it back to swamp buggy. . They can't go everywhere.

Legal in PR of MD for deer and bear, with 6" barrel and more than 700 FP/KEl. Small game barrel irrelevant.

I was pondering the current situation we find ourselves in and thinking back to the shortages during the Obama years. Since we were in almost the same situation for 8 years and things never really fully recovered under Trump, what the hell is going on with the manufacturers? Why wasn't manufacturing capacity increased to sell more product? Why isn't that in the works now?

I noticed on Midway's site that even though CCI primers are out of stock they are already listing the price as $60/1000. That's quite the jump from around $34/1000. It would seem that the manufacturers and retailers are pretty happy making more money on the same volume of product manufactured.

It would seem to me that we need some new players in the manufacturing game. Why is this golden opportunity being ignored? What other market that is this underserved, for this long, wouldn't attract investment?

It is a strange time, different than the Obama buying stimulus. One of the current hallmarks is the inflation of component pricing.
But the biggest issue I can see in the overall picture here is the loss of manufacturing. The one biggest deficit is the manufacture of smokeless  powders. We only have one domestic in US  powder manufacturer, that's Winny in St Marks FL. and Im not sure that's absolute. All the other powders come from abroad. Oz, Chec, Croati, Sweden, Belgium, Finland and so forth. That puts us in a delicate condition as a nation and is downright worrisome.

Our loving government could easily cut us off without legislation.
I would suspect Osha and other regulations are part of his scenario.

Reloading / Re: Minor brain problem!!!

Sometimes if we are going to be gone for a bit like days to weeks-vacation, etc I will not put everything in the safe, I'll hide a lot of things in plain sight. Idea being if they hit the house and the safe they won't get all of them. On bolt rifles I often put the bolt  in a different location.  All pretty much in plain sight mind you. I'm apparently much better at hiding things than I thought. This has lead to more than a few anxious days looking for something that should have been "right there".
It did lead to acquiring a spare Rem 700 bolt and a complete 300 Winmag. So all was not lost. :)

Reloading 10mm ammo / Re: sierra 165 gr hp

Just wanted to add a 2 cent observation. Ive been shooting cast bullets forever, but sometimes seriously. One of the things Ive found is that with a good mould and a good alloy sometimes you do not need to size your bullets. In Repeaters the limiting factor is whether you can load the round and have it chamber. Semiautos are a bit more finicky than other types of actions. Very often though the slightly fat bullet grabs well and seals well in the barrel. Accuracy can be excellent. The fastest Ive pushed most of these has been about 1800 fps in rifles. No leading and great accuracy. I like the Lee aloe a lot its easy to use with mods like the Jonson paste wax, mineral spirit mix.
They do smoke but don't lead and stay clean.
