Reloading 10mm ammo / 180gr XTP?s in my 40 S&W
October 22 2022 09:15:02 AM MDT
So I?m loading up some test loads in 10mm with some XTP?s. I?m working up to 9.5gr of Longshot. I was thinking I might as well work up a load for the 40 as well. So if you have a good load worked up for the 180gr XTP and longshot for the 40 and wouldn?t mind sharing your load I?d appreciate it. This way I can test both loads when I go to the range. I have to drive 35 miles one way just to go shoot and with my truck only getting 13 miles to the gallon I only want to do this once. Thanks for any help you can give. Also this is for Glocks in the G22, 23 and 27 models.

Can anyone help with a guesstimate the velocity? I loaded up some 200 gr coated hard cast with 3 different powders and found the 3 loads the G29 likes.
1) 7.6 gr Longshot
2) 7.6 gr Power Pistol
3) 6.3 gr Unique

Does anyone have the program that can plug in this info and get a close velocity guess?

Reloading 10mm ammo / 180gr XTP w/ Longshot
June 16 2021 11:00:26 AM MDT
So I tested out some loads today using 180gr XTP's and Longshot. My best group was with 7.5gr of Longshot. I'm wondering if someone has run 7.5gr's of Longshot over a chronograph? I'm shooting it out of a Glock 29 but I'm just interested in hearing if anyone has chronoed this load before. If so, can you share your findings and tell what firearm was used. Thanks.

Factory 10mm ammo / S&B 180gr hollow point
May 07 2021 07:40:46 PM MDT
I want to say I read somewhere that S&B used Hornady XTP's in their hollow point ammo. Can anyone confirm this. If not is this a decent self defense ammo?

Mustang Jon, Welcome to the forum!  Many do exchange the extractor on the 45 Caliber conversions for the 10mm conversion!
I think it is the rim of the 10mm is a little bit thicker 1.40 mm vs 1.24 mm for the 45ACP is the main reason.
Be interested in your range reports so be sure to post your results...
Best regards!  :D

I got the Double Diamond conversion barrel from The GlockStore. Their claims are you don't have to change anything when using their conversion barrel. I know of a few people using these DD conversion barrels with no failures at all with thousands of rounds fired. So I'm hopeful, and I'll report back after going to the range. If I can find enough ammo to test it out, now isn't a good time to get into a new caliber. I cast a 175gr bullet but finding brass is the main problem. I even found some longshot powder if they can ship it in a reasonable amount of time.

Glad to be here. New to the 10mm. No ammo to be found so I'm glad I can roll my own. Picked up a Glock G30.4 with a 10mm conversion barrel. I've been loading up some XTP's and some hard cast to go to the range and put her through her paces. I'm sure I'll have some questions along the way.
