I'm very green on re-loading. I am trying to assemble all of the pieces and parts. I am lacking the actual boolitts for 10mm 44 and 357. These calibers are the focus. I have been seeing (available) the cast lead made by boutique manufacturers but simply don't find any data relating to them. I have two powders available. Alliant Blue Dot and Shooters World Major Pistol. 2lbs each, Winchester Large Pistol and Magnum primers and of course, spent casings. I am interested in learning to cast my own lead at some point but thought I would start by reloading "manufactured" hard cast lead to aid in my learning process if that makes any sense. With no specific data what can I do with what I have? Where can you point me to obtain this data needed to utilize what I have? I do have the dies, press, scale etc. and I will be taking a beginners re-loading class this weekend at my LGS. Id like to go into that with as much info as possible specifically related to my objective. Thanks for all your help and comments in advance!

Thanks for the responses. I figured that the quality of the brass and proper type of primer matched to the powder were more important than brand name. Of course there is the issue of getting what you pay for.

Good Evening, I have been working towards gathering the equipment, supplies and registered in a reloading class at my LGS to begin this new endeavor. My goal is simply to supply myself with consistent range ammo. I have a couple of newbie questions in regards to re-loading 10mm. I think I have 2 basic questions. Keep in mind that I have already bought things. everything is hard to find.

1 - Can you use ANY case with any given Primer or Powder combination?

2 - Can you use ANY Large Pistol Primer with any given Case or Powder combination?


I am hoping that my powder bullits and case combinations will all work together once I get the primers that the 10mm Gods provide. This question arose as I was searching Speers web site for load data. They indicate their data is in combination of hornady bullits, CCi 300 Primers and Speer 180 TMJ.

I bought 180Gr Speer TMJ.
I bought Alliant Blue Dot.
I have random used cases like Federal, Sig, Ammo Inc, Underwood, etc all once fired through my revolver.
I don't yet have any large pistol primers (hard to find and you get what you get I guess?!?!)
