I wish they would have use the 6.8spc case instead of the rebated rim.

Most people find a hot 45-70 very painful due to recoil.

Reloading / Re: Issue with wet tumble and lanolin lube
April 03 2023 06:44:15 PM MDT
I reload for my wife and kids more than I do for me.
I found using very hot water with Dawn and Lemishine in the tumbler takes the lanolin off my brass.

For powder coating or Alox either will work.  Some people prefer more lube groves for conventional lube.

Accurate molds has a bunch of 220 grain molds.  Go to his website and pick your poison.  He makes good molds.

Gear/Equipment / Re: Benchmade Knifes
December 09 2022 05:08:57 PM MST
I have carried my Mini Griptilian for about 15 years.  Bent the pocket clip and tried to buy another clip but Benchmade refused to sell me one, just sent me a new one with new screws.
The knife is D2 steel and has never failed me.  Eady to open and close with one hand.

General Discussion / Re: High dexterity casting gloves
November 30 2022 08:37:36 PM MST
Depending on the mold as to wether I wear gloves or not.  Molds with solid handles like buckshot molds I use welding gloves.  Putting sprue back in the pot I usually wear leather work gloves just in case I get a little splash.

I haven't used a ladle in over 30 years so I am no help.  Playing with the adjustment on the Lee pot you will be able to find the spot that casts good bullets for you.

I have a 10# ABC extinguisher handy should I ever need it.

There is an adjustment screw on top that lets you adjust how much it moves.

I use the sprue lube on my molds, s Sqlbullet says it doesn't take much.  I had one mold out of about 30 that the bullets stuck in and tried many tricks and none of them helped.  I found some Hi-Tek-Lube bonded mold release that bonds to the mold cavities.  It is mixed with alcohol and evaporates.  The bullets just fall out of the mold now.

Reloading / Re: Outdoor cold weather casting

Don't do while it is snowing. LOL  I cast a lot in the winter in my garage with the door opened about half way.  Once I get going no problem keeping everything hot.
