Hi everyone,

New here but notice some names from the CZForum so that's nice. Anyway, just ordered an EAA Witness Hunter Part# EAA-600250 which has a somewhat skeletonized slide. As this lightens the slide I was wondering if anyone that has this version has shot hot loads with the Wolff 20lb spring and if so how did it perform? I'd think with the weight reduction an 18lb spring might be better for the big boy ammo. Any thoughts? Photo enclosed of this version of the Hunter.

I have the 20# spring and am loading hot loads.  Just ordered a 22# at the advice of a competition shooter.  I have 2 Witness Pro's.  I ordered the Wolff Springs combo with the hammer spring included.  And yes it made a big difference.  The recoil even with the 20# spring broke a Holosun.

A good 200gr XTP and BD is 10.4gr
Just work up to it in your gun... my G20 handles it well and it's accurate as I can be.

I use that same load. It's a tack-driver out of my G20, and it gives sub 1" groups at 50 yards from the Banshee. The Banshee bulges the brass beyond re-use, but it's not like I do a lot of target shooting with XTP's anyway.

I've gotten it up to 10.0 and groups started opening up I may go past it since pressure still seems OK.  9.8 is the sweet spot so far.

I would hazard a guess that in todays business climate a combination of an MBA and a corporate lawyer have decided that a recall even for different cartridges at a different time and perhaps formulation = an unacceptable legal risk. Thats on the order of someone firing a round with even a different powder and the barrel plugged with mud it would still be BlueDots fault. In todays litiginous lottery this may not be as silly as it sounds. A starving lawyer may try to pursue any thing thru the looking glass.

I have been developing a hog load for the 200gr. XTP with Acc. #9 and Blue Dot.  #9 develops good velocity but loses to the Blue Dot in accuracy by quite a bit. Recoil impulse is also more pronounced with #9.  YMMV

When I started loading in the 70's I was using WWII H4831

I have the hunter and think it is a lot of gun for the money. Beautiful workmanship on the metal, finish is great and the single action trigger is very very good. Mine is very accurate and I'm looking forward to getting an optic on top to really wring it out

Update:
Mount came from Hennings but did not fit my slide. I have the Witness Pro.  I have seen a Fastfire III mounted on another guys Hunter so the one from Hennings would probably fit the Hunter.  The LPA sight I have on my slide is different from apparently most of the Witness Slides.  I sent it off to J&L Gunsmith to have it mounted.

Afternoon Popeye,
That's a long way out but but realistic from what I understand. I have been looking at optics's such as this for awhile, but so far, my irons have served me well...normally 15 - 25 yard shots at max. I do think the Fastfire 3 or nicer would be helpful with my less than awesome vision : )

Ken

Feel your pain.  Have a Fastfire III coming tomorrow and the mount Tuesday.  Check the cams today got hogs coming in regular now.  Planning on a late night date with em. ;D

Don't know if it helps but a guy at the range had the Hunter with Burris Reflex.  Said he killed a deer at 100yds with it.  He was very happy with the gun.

Evening,
If cost isn't a huge issue / your not shooting a ton of hogs, Underwood's 140 Grain Controlled Fracturing Hollow Point would be fun to test on them, otherwise UW's 200gr XTP Would likely work well

I will have some 155gr. XTP's coming after I buy the Hornady dies.  I think I will try those and order some of the 200gr. XTP as well.

Thank You for adding me to the forum.  I just bought an EAA Witness Pro 10mm to shoot some hogs with.  I have seen quite a bit of useful info already and if I can contribute I will.
Thanks Again

Stock Glock 40 10mm all groups @25 yards I could cover with the palm of my hand. I like Blue dot more than #9 so far, less grains of powder with faster fps and less stress on the brass at least in my gun.

200gr. Acme TCFP
9.6 grs of Blue Dot
Average 1231 fps
Low of 1211 fps
High of 1243 fps
?---?-----------------------
200gr Acme TCFP
10.6 grs of Blue Dot
Average of 1314 fps
Low of 1299 fps
High of 1326
-----------------------------------
180gr XTP
10.6 grs of Blue Dot
Average 1258 fps

Thanks for posting this I am trying to decide on a hog load and am leaning toward the XTP 180.  Only PISTOL I am loading for is .45ACP and using PowerPistol.

Popeye212, welcome to the forum!  Please understand that these are a solid brass projectile.  As such they are longer (Bullet Length 0.750") than those with heavier lead core construction.
Also they are more geared to be SUBSONIC performance, where they remain under the speed of sound (roughly 1130 feet per second at sea level).  Therefore none are shown over 1100 FPS.

Thanks for the info and the welcome.  What I am after is a good hog bullet.  I think I may just go to the Hornady XTP.  I bought some Buffalo Bore Hardcast 220gr Hardcast but not crazy about using lead bullets.  I bought an EAA Witness Pro and have seen where the polygonal rifling and lead don't get along so well.  I have a stand I am going to hunt at night and the distance is 43 yds. to the feeder.  Still up in the air about powder and bullet selection. Any suggestions welcome.  I am practicing at 25 and 50yds,  mainly at 50yds.

Reloading 10mm ammo / Load Data for Lehigh 185gr
December 07 2019 09:18:01 PM MST
I downloaded the data from Lehigh but it seems rather low.  Can someone steer me to data on this bullet.  I have Power Pistol for my .45 but looking at my Hornady and Sierra books.  I think the data on the Lehigh may be a bit low.  Blue Dot looks good as well as Accurate #9.  Ordering some Starline brass.

Thanks in advance.
