Factory 10mm ammo / Re: Best full power range ammo
July 31 2018 03:55:36 PM MDT
I'm fairly new to 10MM; I've found the S&B 180 gr FMJ to be fairly powerful, more so that Remington, PPU, or Armscor.  The Sig 180 gr FMJ is a little hotter but almost twice as expensive as S&B. I don't have the capability to load my own; as long as I'm finding the S&B for around $15 per box of 50, I think I'm a happy camper.

This site is great!
Its good to see a forum where you won't get the usual "too much recoil/kick"  :P typical reply.
What do people expect when they touch off a nice, powerful 10MM ? Recoil like a Buckmark .22 or something?  Good grief! It's powerful! It's physics! It's the 10MM, not a wimpy little mouse-gun. I LIKE shooting my little Glock 29 more than most other handguns 'cause I know I just shot a powerful  handgun shooting a powerful round.

Have been researching the Sig P365, sounds like there were some possible reliability issues at first. Not sure if this has been resolved or not
Dear Sig P365:
I like you but I just can't trust you.
Sorry

Factory Ammo / Re: Issue/duty

I gotta go with the UW 180 gr GDHP.  Sure it's got some ooomph to it; it's a 10MM, it's supposed to.  Of course this is just my opinion. I like the round and the G 29 it's coming out of a lot, and yes, one must practice with it.

I put another 125 rounds of 180 gr Sellier and Bellot through my Gen 4 G29 today and was very satisfied with both my shooting and of course, the gun.  I really enjoy shooting this pistol; I like the fistful of firepower, I like the way it functions, I like the way it carries at 3:30 in my TT Gunleather IWB Holster.  She's all clean and resting in the safe now, mags are clean too and all loaded back up, ready to go to work when called for.

having a gun you don't shoot is like having a girl friend or wife that you don't have sex with. :D

Uh...not exactly.

Factory 10mm ammo / Re: Carry ammo and let's be real

I carry either the Hornady 155 Gr XTP Rounds or the Underwood 180 gr Delta Elites, or the 180 gr Gold Dots in my Gen 4 G29.  All 3 of these are quite sufficient, if I do my part.  I find the Hornady rounds to be very accurate and a bit easier on the follow-up, so I may settle on those, even though they are a little less powerful than the UW offerings, they should be more than good for self defense use.  This thread has made me think more about selecting a "definitive" SD round, which means I need to get to the range ASAP to do some shooting/testing/evaluation.  Oh darn, I have to go shooting.  Darn the luck...I'd much rather stay home and do yard work...

General Discussion / Re: Why I carry a Glock 29

Howdy, new to the forum, but since I really am a fan of the 10MM round, and the pistols that launch it, I thought I'd join in and check the joint out.  Anyway, I carry a Gen 4 Glock 29 because I shoot it very well and am confident that it will serve my needs if I ever really need it.  I carry UW 180 gr Delta Elite loads or the 180 gr Gold Dot loads, and I like the S&B 180 gr FMJ for the range.  I can usually find this for right around $15 per 50 online and it's decently powered and fairly clean ammo.  I use a TT Gunleather IWB Holster, the XC Slim, or a UBG Holsters RTBA Pancake rig for OWB.   I always carry a spare mag in a Tucker Gunleather OWB Mag Pouch too.   I am in the habit of always having a spare mag not because I think more rounds is better so much, but for the sake of reliability and out of habit.   I have modified the gun a bit; the cursed finger grooves are gone, a Talon Grip is on the gun, and the pistol has an OEM Extended Slide Lock lever installed.  It has factory night sights.  I do have the Pearce Finger +0 extensions on 3 mags and keep the stock base plates on a few as well.  I have a G20 15-round mag with a X-Grip Sleeve too, but honestly, I find it a distraction to shoot with it, so it's just sitting in the safe right now, downloaded to 14, in case I need it.  I guess I need to practice with this G20 mag some more and see if I  can get used to it, and maybe start carrying it as my spare mag sometimes.  Anyway, I look forward to reading and contributing here.
