My G20 is a brick in my hand.
The grip angle is awkward and the overall thickness is huge and glocks are truly just unattractive unless you're a fan of machine parts.....yes that's what a lot of people say about Glocks in general but it's really apparent with the G20 and 21.
I'm wanting a P80 frame that fits the 20 slide. The improved grip angle and texturing makes these frames better than mother Glock ever has been imho. Honestly I don't mind the heavier trigger pull of the plastic fantastic either.
All that being said since the G20 platform is lighter than steel, versatile, and durable it is my backcountry gun when I need capacity over wallop.
In bear country an Alphawolf 6 inch barrel and a Paradise Valley Leather chest rig make the 20 work for me when I leave the 41mag at home.
I generally shoot my steel guns at the range these days and take the plastic ones afield since I have come to understand over the years that when on foot every ounce counts.

I have had a few sets...  sold them all. Not at all precise. Fast sure. Accurate...  not sommuch.

Never a choice for me for hunting.

CW

I have a set on my 20.
I like them for short distance say 25 -40 feet.
Beyond room length shots  I become less accurate.
In a hunting scenario a traditional three point sight works better for me.
I'm thinking of swapping out for the Glock night sights.
I've had XS sights for a couple years.

Excellent chest holsters with very good quality and attention to detail.

I have a 6 inch Alpha wolf fluted barrel on my G20 and all my research from internet reviews and this forum indicate about 100 fps and 100ft/lb improvement at the muzzle.
Not much but I think the accuracy of an aftermarket barrel is much better and I haven't had feed issues even with poorer reload bulk ammo.
Just my experience but no actual data to back it up.... ::)

Nice weapon! It's in great condition.
I've had mine since 1980-81.
Wide variety of loads and bullets available, and they are accurate wheel guns, but a bit heavy after all day on the hip.
I put a pachmayer combat grip with a palm swell on mine and it shoots like a dream.
I bought it primarily because hiking through scrub oak getting into elk camp we'd encounter a bear now and then, but never did get to hunt one in the scrub oak. The bullets/case combo is large enough to legally take large game here in Colorado and I've taken a couple bucks with it over the years.
Back then you could shoot a bear during elk hunting season and then go buy the license!
I've got 200 primed cases to load this weekend...
Cheers!

I always like shooting that hand cannon in an indoor gun range, inevitably someone will inquire with a "what the hell is that you're shooting?" after loosing a few rounds down range and the deafening roar subsides!..lol

The 7 inch KKM barrel for the G40 should drop right in the 20 just as well.

Thanks buddy. Your 40 is the wallpaper on my phone lol

Now, I wonder how goofy that 7 will look in a 20.

A longer barreled Glock is a discrete statement on your high degree of handgun knowledge and prowess..... ;)

But more to the point, if I can change my city gun to an improved backcountry gun just by dropping in a barrel, why not?

Cheers!

I've got a 6inch Lone Wolf in my G20.
Improved accuracy and the bit heavier barrel helps muzzle lift, besides it looks cool with the extra barrel out the front....ha!
Oh and it shoots like a dream for a bigger handgun.

I'm not buying any 9mm's because it's not a round I prefer.
I've owned them and it just doesn't perform well enough for my needs.

If Glock can make money with another 9mm that's what they'll do and that's ok and good business.

General Discussion / Re: Remington rifle settlement

Ok I had to go get some info...

Here's an interesting read from December 2014

This is a quote from the article

"Remington's 700 series, which began with the Model 721 shortly after World War II, has been wildly popular not only with hunters and target shooters, but also with law enforcement and the U.S. military. The gun is prized for its accuracy and smooth operation, thanks to a unique trigger mechanism patented in the 1940s by Remington engineer Merle "Mike" Walker.

But the CNBC investigation revealed that even before the gun went on the market, Walker himself had discovered a potential problem with the trigger he designed. In a 1946 memo, he warned of a "theoretical unsafe condition" involving the gun's safety—the mechanism that's supposed to keep the rifle from firing accidentally.

Subsequent memos during the testing process noted guns could be made to fire simply by switching off the safety or operating the bolt. "This situation can be very dangerous from a safety and functional point of view," said a 1947 inspection report.

While Walker contended the issue had to do with the manufacturing process and not his design, critics including firearms experts and plaintiffs' attorneys have argued that the same aspects of the design that allow the gun to fire so smoothly also make it possible for internal parts of the trigger to become misaligned, rendering the gun unsafe. Specifically, they cite a tiny part called a "trigger connector," which they say can become clogged with rust or debris. Under the settlement, Remington plans to replace the triggers with "connectorless" mechanisms—a similar fix to one Walker himself proposed in 1948.

Walker died in 2013 at age 101. But he told CNBC in 2010 that he believed Remington's rejection of his proposal back then "had something to do with cost." A 1948 internal analysis obtained by CNBC estimated the cost of the change to be 5 ½ cents per gun."

I put a Trigger Tech replacement in my 1963 700ADL and it breaks like glass, very predictable and increased my accuracy a bunch.
Took about 1/2 hr and dropped right in.....fantastic trigger.
I would hate to send in my rifle for a six month wait to get it back.
I'm just speculating on the turnaround time etc, but getting a repair done always seems to take a long time...

The 29 is definitely more carry friendly. You can get an X-Grip to slip on a G20 magazine to give it a full size grip. Then throw a 4.6" barrel in it, and you basically have a G20 for the woods. Swap it back out and you have a concealable defense weapon.

I'll try to attach a pic of mine.

Hmmm...good point...nice picture....think I saw a used 29 at Cabela's the other day......

I bought the G20 because it fit my grip better than the 29, I dropped in a fluted Lone Wolf 6" barrel for the improved ballistics.

Carrying now in the field is a substantial size and weight savings compared to my Blackhawk .41 magnum and the "longer" 6" barrel is shorter than the 7" Ruger too.

Durability, high capacity, and an improved ballistic profile with just a simple barrel swap.....what's not to like about this Glock compared to the 4+ pound Ruger?
The Ruger is a very smooth working wheel gun with an excellent trigger and great accuracy but it's a beast on your hip after a day on the trail.

Should have bought one of these things years ago.

The G20 and I added a lone wolf 6inch barrel and XS sights to mine.
A Paradise Valley Leather chest rig or Fobus belt holster on my hip or the back pack belt.
I did carry a .41 magnum Ruger Blackhawk for many years, but since seeing three wolves together while blackpowder hunting last year I wanted more rounds on/in hand. Fully loaded the G20 weighs less too.
I should add that elk and deer hunting is walking between 8-12miles/day so weight is a big concern especially since I'm closer to 60 years old than 50 these days!
I'm willing to pretty much shoot any round that's hardcast/jacketed, above 200grns.
When I've encountered predators it's always been at relatively short range (<50 yds) and unexpected when it happens(for both me and the critter). My experence makes me focus on accurate shot placement and having firepower under stress.
Cheers!

Just found a video of it:

Nice video
Sure looks like there's some kick to the 10 even with that platform, or could be she only weighs a buck and a quarter too.
