10mm semi-auto handguns / Re: XDM 10mm

Mini Range report

4.5 XDM 10mm (stock)

200 rounds downrange no problems: FTE,FTF,

ejection 4-6 feet over, behind right shoulder

all brass had dot imprint in primer-no dragging, no severe case bulging

Hornady 10mm 155  grain XTP
Hornady 10mm 180 grain XTP
Hornady 10mm 200grain XTP
Sig Sauer 10mm 180 grain JHP  1250 fps

This stuff did not feel like watered down 40SW ammo

Seemed like a tad less muzzle rise than the glock 20 gen4

Had far less recoil than the DW Valor (that sucks bought the Valor)- and put in 22 pound spring--26 wouldn't cycle well

both mags drop free easily

grip adequate- they could put more effort into that like the SW M&P new grip

FUN!  just a lunch report--160 plus rounds

Possibly consider the Dan Wesson Valor -5inch (38 ounces-BUT best balance ever in hand!) with lots of 10 round magazines--has shot reliably light 10mm 1100 fps and over 1350 fps (with 24-26 pound wolf spring). Sight acquisition wonderful.  The feel in hand is unlike any 1911 I have tried (Colt,KImber, Combat Delta,Ruger or Glock 20 & 40). Buy once cry once- see some less than $1500 or there about.

Dear Forum

Which Wolff recoil springs do you find works best for hot buffalo bore, swamp fox, double tap, Underwood ammo for the 10 mm Valor and/or Smith Wesson 1076 in the following grains: less 180, 180, 200 plus?

I purchased some wolf 24lb (41924) and a Wolff 26 pound recoil spring (41926) for this purpose--factory feels less and they advised higher weight as well. I also bought Wolf recoil spring 20lb (47920) and 22lb (47922) for SW1076.

Just curious about "grain to spring" since many here reload and have far more experience with this. JUST FYI-the Valor is just the nicest balance feeling 1911 I have used-- even with sig ammo in 10mm going 1200-1250, if you don't purchase one go try a friends at the range.

thanks for any opinions

Great input from all--decided to go with a 5 inch Stainless 10mm Valor--ill putt pics up after a test drive break in period

Thank you lots of input--Could the Valor be the way to go if funds are there? I wonder of there are 10 plus round magazines for it--Wilson combat.

Thank you sqlbullet

Intent was can count on when needed- that may be all three, was wondering if valor, had more multi shot precision -but again that could be all of them-they all look great

Can anyone with experience using these Dan Wesson 10mm's share their experience - Razorback, Silverback, Valor? Which one (if you could only get one) would you select? Thanks

Thanks Oldman 10mm and Hamopr for suggesting to clean up mags, and treat the follower, thanks Shadow for warning on grip removal, advice Midway store for followers, and spring for heavy loads.

The serial number TFE44x9, product code 105900, special order 0254. 1076 4 1/4 barrel 10mm?

On page 297 of the Catalog of Smith & Wesson it lists Product Code 105900 as pre FBI , pre 1991. Looks like it has only had a factory round through it.

There are "no marks" under the decocker level -- has original box/sticker.

Should this go into SW for a fix?

Thank You

Oldman 10mm

I received 4 magazines with yellow followers-3 look pretty rough--- should I try to find a magazine for SW 10mm with a different color follower?

ANY 1076 owners?  Just acquired a 4.25 inch 1076- looks to be very little used-not going to be a safe queen.

What ammo works well? Will it handle the Buffalo bore and Underwood velocity over 1300?

What modern day Magazines can be purchased to work in this gun-- Wilson Combat 10mm, Kimber, Colt?

Thank you for any info--
