My bud got one of their mag pouches that attaches to the horizontal strap.

Give that 40 a quick pull and she'll snap right outb of that holster.

I also ordered the single mag pouch from them but it's not set up for the wide straps of the rig, maybe was sent the wrong one...but also it would be hard to reach under the waders in my scenario as pictured..for now I've got the mag in a front vertical zipper pocket of my wading jacket. I have a 2 mag carrier with snap covers that I will use when I'm not concerned about water exposure and the concealability factor..

The Glock (a 20 btw) will indeed snap right out but I'm training myself to take my left hand out of the muzzle direction by putting it on the left side strap (outside the waders)..that gives me a bit more positive draw as it keeps the entire rig tight as I pull up.

Fishing this week in Yellowstone country and finding the Kenai holster works very well in its position under the waders..once it's in place it doesn't hinder my casting at all.

Here's hoping I never have call to use it but it's comforting as I walk a couple miles from the vehicle both inside and outside YNP..Along with the bear spray on my hip I've got some protection at hand..

Concealed under the waders it's pretty easy to draw quickly. I find if I keep the harness snug I can draw without holding down the holster but it pulls more easily if I use my left hand outside the waders to steady the strap on my left. (Note that I will also wear a jacket or fly vest while fishing..)

Glock 20 Gen 4 loaded with Underwood 200 grain hard cast Hi-Tek coated bullets..still figuring out how to carry extra magazine(s) for quick access.

Thanks, DL..

Just received 500 Missouri Bullet Co 200 grain 'Steeler' bullets that look very similar to those, so will try the MBC purchase first...will report soon..

Has anyone Velocity tested the Most recently produced Underwood 10mm ammo ?

A week or so ago I chrono'd the Underwood 200 grain hard cast Hi-Tek coated round (their #248):

Glock 20 Gen 4
10 rounds
Labradar chrono (therefore at the muzzle)
1176 fps (average)
1190.75 fps (highest)
1162.41 fps (lowest)
Extreme Spread: 28.34 fps
Std. Deviation: 10.55 fps

I've been comparing a pulldown I did of the Hi-Tek bullet in this thread:
http://10mm-firearms.com/factory-10mm-ammo-pull-downs/underwood-200gr-hard-cast-provided-by-intercooler-nov-2017/

Underwood lists its speed at 1250fps on the box, which I'd expect comes from a longer barrel than the 4.6" stock barrel on my new G20.4.

That round is now out of stock, sure hoping to score at least a couple more boxes before my annual Fall fishing trip to Jellystone. I'll be interested in what Kenk thinks of the XTPs...

So I've got 500 MBC 200-grain bullets on the way, and just purchased a pound of LongShot..with some new Starline cases I'll soon report back on how my clones are shooting...

Already heard back from Brad Alpert, Director, Global Strategery & Operations Manager at Missouri Bullet Company...he said they don't sell direct to Underwood but a distributor might..

Brad says, "it's a standard mould that comes from Magma Engineering, the folks who make all the casting equipment that everyone uses.  Most casting companies don't make that bullet, preferring to stick with the .40 Short and Weak (.40 S&W) family of lighter bullets.  But I'm a Colt Delta Elite guy from way back, so naturally I wanted to make it for fellow fans."

I believe he's talking about their product specifically and not claiming the Underwood bullet is an MBC; I'm going to order in a bunch and give 'em a try.

Hmm, the MBC does look deeper, but maybe it's the angle I shot my original pic from.. here's another shot from eye level..

Any thoughts on who makes this bullet?

As bear10 mentioned it does look like an MBC Steeler Hi-Tek bullet. MBC says their bullet is 18bhn and Underwood says 21bhn, otherwise they sure look alike..I'm likely to order at least a sample pack from MBC to see if I can replicate this load. I have loaded about 1500 of their 200 grain SWCs in 45ACP and have great results..

Don't know if they'll tell me but I'm going to put a query to MBC and will report back..

As mentioned above I have been studying this new version of the Underwood round, finally got an RCBS kinetic puller and here are some data to peruse til an official pulldown can be done.

Using a LabRadar chrono this clocked at 1176 fps muzzle velocity through my Glock 20 Gen 4..

I pulled down one round from a box of 20 purchased recently direct from Underwood..

The Hi-Tek coated bullet has one lube groove..it weighed 197.4 grains on my digital scale.

This one had 8.3 grains of what looks similar to the Power Pistol mentioned in the original pulldown..the weight bounced back & forth to 8.4 grains before it settled to 8.3 so I think it's close to the 8.4 grains found originally.

I still have some I can contribute to the official pulldown thread if desired.

Ken, seems like fairly high up on the chest will be best what with needing to clear the top of the waders if the SHTF...also thinking that access might be better if I can offset the holster to the left an inch or two (as a right-hander) so as to put the grip of the gun closer to the center of the chest...(there are the suspenders of the waders to deal with..)

Thoughts?

Hey, Ken,

I have one of the Gen 2 Kenai holsters on order for my Glock 20 Gen 4, for use for backup on Yellowstone region fishing trips..

So it'll ride on my chest while I'm in waders — if you have any thoughts on best practices in using the Kenai I'd love to hear them.

Thanks.
