Honestly I don't think the G2 was ever perfected. Most agree it still performs worse than regular gold dots. Speer tweaked the initial run from dismal performance to "ok" performance and seemed to have called it good and left it at that. Expansion is hit or miss, auto glass penetration is poor, results are inconsistent through everything. Most agencies that adopted it dropped it. Honestly I'm surprised Speer hasn't discontinued the line until they can get it right- it's a tarnish to their track record that makes you wonder about their current quality. I bet they changed nothing on the personal protection variant and just decided to market it to the public in small boxes since it was such a flop with government contracts.

Factory 10mm ammo / Who makes SuperVel SCHP projectiles?
November 18 2019 02:07:54 PM MST
SuperVel informed me they do not manufacture their solid copper hollow points, but purchase them from the manufacturer, which they said is not Barnes. Who else actually makes these solid copper bullets? If anyone knows....

I bought 5 boxes last spring at 11.95 to try. When I went to buy 1000 rounds a month later they were out of stock already by June.

The 147 HST performs better than 124 variant.

Well let me help settle this really good conversation. I would not mind getting some underwood for barrier testing, what type of barrier are we talking? Here I fired 45colt through board into gel

:D :D :D

The barriers used for industry standard testing. Sheet metal, auto glass, etc.

How has DT survived after years of greatly inflating their velocities? Why can't they just be honest 🤔

Actually I almost forgot, there are now 4 in the Ranger line with the new "Ranger One" ??

If it's the Bonded or T versions, it will say so on the box. The product code will also have T or B after RA. The picture is neither, it's just the Ranger lol.  Winchester has the most convoluted and ridiculous naming scheme and they are terrible about explaining the differences. From what I understand, there are currently 3 expanding types of ammo in the Ranger series: Bonded Ranger, Ranger T, and just Ranger. I have no idea what the "plain" Ranger is, but I don't think anyone uses it lol. It's just one of the many iterations of the bullet that they hung on to. In 9mm the "plain" Ranger is only available in 115 gr, whereas the Ranger T and Bonded Ranger don't come in 115. Winchester has had multiple variations and changed little things over the years without changing the names.

Black boxes are just the newer colored ones I believe. So all three types of Ranger can be in tan or black boxes, the tan ones are just older.

The PDX = the Defend = the Ranger Bonded. 3 names, same projectile. I don't believe the non-bonded Ranger T series are sold in any "civilian" variant.

No problem. It's not illegal, just a cheesy policy Winchester and Hornady have for their dealers. SGAmmo has 9mm Ranger Bonded in stock, but not the T-series. The Ranger T-series are akin to the HST, excellent expansion with good penetration but slightly lacking in glass and hard barrier penetration. The Ranger Bonded series are akin to the Gold Dot with slightly less expansion, a little more prone to not opening up, but outstanding barrier penetration.

10mm Hunting / Re: Glock G40 Hunting Sights

I haven't tried hunting with a red dot optic, but I've had great luck with the trijicon hd xr iron sights on my G20. The thin front post with bright orange dot and wide rear u-notch work very well for hunting and defensive training. Kind of a jack of both trades. The HD XR front are also available for 1911's through Ed Brown as a dealer exclusive deal with Trijicon. I don't shoot 1911's very often but a great option for those that do. Not sure why Ed Brown and Trijicon don't advertise that better.

The Barnes factory loading of their 155 VOR-TX that they load way too slow. The new Winchester Rangers when they start popping up. The recreated SuperVel company has a 160 SCHP that is their own design now. Hornady did have a 165gr critical defense in 10mm, but as I wish they would do with that entire line, stopped making it and just stuck to the critical duty. So there's 4 more for ya.

Very interesting info...GS bullets have always had brass looking jackets, I wonder why these didn't. That's why they named them "Golden" Sabre lol. Also interesting deviations with the cavities. I'd probably call Remington with the lot number and inquire.
