10mm semi-auto handguns / Re: Delta Elite - Reloads

I have a 1988 DE. I have put a lot of 1988 vintage Norma through it with no issues. In fact the Norma ammo was all you could get in 1988.

My normal load is 10.3 grains of Blue Dot and a 170 grain lead SWC bullet. It is very accurate in all my 10MMs.

Back about 15 years ago I got in on the Bruce Gray conversion of Sig P220 Stainless Elite .45 ACP to 10mm. Mr. Gray told me that it was not advisable to shoot full power 10mm cartridges on a regular basis out of this conversion as the gun was not designed to handle it.

Curious. Did Sig change the frame or beef it up in any way in their 220 10mm when compared to the older P220 Stainless Elite?

Reloading 10mm ammo / Re: Why no Blue Dot Commercial loads?

I'm still puzzled why Blue Dot isn't used more commercially in 10mm...more than a few people who reload a lot of 10mm go through pounds of Blue Dot, and we can't all be totally ignorant.

It is my favorite powder for the 10mm. It is very accurate in my guns.

This bullet seemed to perform better at the 1250fps mark. It makes sense since it's closer to the design intentions of the bullet factory loaded velocity of 1050fps. The extra velocity didn't seem to offer any real advantage in the performance and came with noticeable more recoil and muzzle jump.

Thanks for the info / tests.

In my very limited testing of the 10mm and the 44 mag I reached similar conclusions.

I load to a velocity that provides good penetration and accuracy. Most of the time when I increase the velocity it does not provide a proportional increase in penetration or accuracy. Sometimes I get the opposite result, poor accuracy or less penetration depending on the bullet.

Lately I find myself loading for accuracy and less than max and not experiencing any drawbacks.

, the suggest of 10.4 Blue Dot was the Bee's knees.

That makes six.  ::)

Make the seven!

Thank you!  I am looking forward to the journey.

Good luck and let us know how you make out. I'm also looking for a load similar to yours.

I'm about to try The Shadow's Longshot load.

Also, will the .22 conversion kit work on it?

I called Sig last week about the 22 conversion kit. They said it would work with the 10mm. They said some kits are tight. They also said if I purchase a kit and it is too tight I could send the gun and kit to them and they would fit it.

I noticed he doesn't shoot Underwood, or even Doubletap.

His videos seemed to be aimed at the average or beginning shooter. The stuff he was shooting is what you would find in the LGS.

People who are into 10mm and those in places like Alaska know that other options are available. Lets face it there is only a very small percentage of 10mm shooters who need to use Underwood, Buffalo Bore or anything in that category for four legged nasty critters.

I watch a lot of his videos regarding different weapons and calibers. He is fair and practical. He is one of the few YouTube guys I like.

Reloading 10mm ammo / Re: Accuracy Load ?
September 03 2017 08:17:21 PM MDT
Guys

I just loaded up some 170 grain plated bullets in front of 10 grains of Blue Dot and went to the range.
Rested I put ten rounds went into 3 inches at 25 yards. Eight of those were under two inches and five were touching.

I guess 10 grains of Blue dot or there about is going to be my plinking load. I may try tweaking it but I'm very happy with the results.

Thanks Guys!!

Reloading 10mm ammo / Accuracy Load ?
September 03 2017 08:42:45 AM MDT
I'm curious. Is there a target load out there that is recognized as a load that shoots tight in most if not all 10mm's? I have 3 10mms. I would like to find one load for use in all three for plinking and target shooting.

There are specific loads for the 38 Spl. and the 45 ACP that are accepted as being accurate in most 38's or 45's. I have loads for the 38 and 45 that shoot tight no matter which gun I use. I would like to find one for the 10.

BTW I have a lot of 170 gr. lead and 170 grain plated bullets. I have AA9, Unique, Power Pistol, Blue Dot and HS6.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks!
