10mm semi-auto handguns / Re: Glock vs Glock

I agree but I gotta wonder if the extra slide does something to support the barrel that would make it more accurate compared to a 6" coming out a g20 even though I have zero scientific evidence or reason to think so .

Thanks guys,
I had no idea the gen5's were coming out in a few weeks i'll have to look them up and see if they did anything different with the G20.
Thanks for the advice on the grand power, if i'm understanding right its (p40) a great gun but more of a luxury purchase for the range compared to a Glock you would carry every day. SQL bullet , are your EAA's stock or modified? They eat full power loads?

Would you recommend the 40 over the 20? I am more worried about velocity than accuracy . The 10 as i'm sure you guys know is one of the few pistol cartridges that is still accelerating after 16" of barrel unlike the 45 or 40. unfortunately I have yet to find a good carbine. I found one in 460 Rowland and production stopped before processing my order.

10mm semi-auto handguns / Glock vs Glock

Hey guys,

Would you rather have a glock 40 with the long slide or have the g20 with the option of a lone wolf LS setup , 50 GI, 460 Rowland, etc. ? I have a glock 29 it's my favorite gun with my Rock island a close second but I don't want a huge barrel coming out of my subcompact and i'm a huge 460 fan. The frame on the G40 does not extend all the way like my Rock island do you think its safe to say they used the same frame with a thinner slide (and only difference being the slide ?

10mm semi-auto handguns / GP40 10mm

Hey guys I have an opportunity to get a GP40 10mm. For the price I can also get a double stack rock island, an EAA (even though i'm not so sure about them), or a glock 20 or 40(which I can throw different barrels in and have different velocities and calibers) . Is the warranty as great as its put off to be? Does the rotating barrel really make a difference? For the price (at least in pictures) it's not too attractive. If anybody uses one and had issues that were repaired or had no issues id love to hear feedback. I heard chamber support on the bottom isn't there but I've never seen one in person.
Thanks for the input.
Also what would you guys pay for a GP40 10mm?
Have you guys ran underwood through your GP?

Thanks guys,
Pete

Just curious to some of your opinions on rock island's 10mm offerings.  After my not so fun experience with the EAA compact I chose the rock ms(4.25")10mm as its replacement.  The slide is very smooth and tight no play what so ever.  The stock sights are quite nice as well.  The  first 300 rounds at the range went pretty well only had a couple ftf which i chaulked up to break in period.  Quite happy with the accuracy too i might add.  :D Unfortunately the magazine started wanting to come loose while firing so It had to go back to Armscor.  Have any of you encountered this problem?  Other than this I am very much liking this firearm.

I love my rock islands, I have had that happen to me with my tac ultra 5" (I don't trust 1911's less than 5" . With me it only happened with mecgar mags and it turned out it was because of the magwell the tac series comes with. I went back to metalform mags w/baseplates problem solved. Unless of course your grip is hitting the release but i'm sure you checked that.

General Discussion / Introduction

Hey guys,
I'm Pete, lived most my life in NY (no handguns) but I had plenty of long guns and still studied pistols because I had no intention of staying in an anti gun state and realized 10mm was the way to go with a pistol. I finally moved to PA and my current (pistol) collection is : HK USP (looking to convert to 40 super or 10mm), Sig 227 carry, Springfield XD .460 Rowland, ruger .44 mag, Smith m&p .357.  My 10's are a glock 29 w/xs big dot, a rock island armory tacII ultra FS (best 10mm 1911 I've shot so far) , and a converted GP100 that I'm in the process of selling.

I'm hoping to learn a lot about the different types of 10mm's . For example I payed out the @$$ for a Kimber tle 10mm and it was not even close to reliable, I bought a rock island for half the price and have yet to have any type of hiccup with the exception of aftermarket mags not doing the last round hold open. I want to get another glock but i'm torn between the 20 which I could probably get a longslide for and the 40 (I like how you can throw a 9x25 barrel in the glock). I've been checking out EAA but ive seen people have problems with real 10mm ammo and when you ask EAA they wont give you a straight answer all they say is "it will shoot any REGULAR 10mm" . I just spoke to the guy from grand power about getting a p4010mm (idk what happened to the p40L ) but ive heard about problems with those as well along with lack of chamber support. I only use underwood, sig, doubletap, etc. that are loaded to 10mm specs or I would have bought a .40 s&w.

So now i'm at the point where id like to add another to my collection and hopefully I will learn enough on this forum to make an informed decision. Plus other gun forums are all about "what could you possibly need a 10 for? FBI says 9mm is best, yada, yada, yada. I'm 300lbs and live in bear country I can shoot a 10 as well as a 9 and don't have to worry about predators while hiking.

Thanks guys great to meet you all,

Pete
