My I ask what oal did you use?

Hello guys got a gen5 block g17 .
Issue the load I was wanting to try was vvn 3n38 147gr xtp .
Start load was 6.3gr of 3n38 and 147gr xtp oal 1.142
Ok I set everything up 1.145 ish oal and it's a no go the oal is way to long base of the case over hangs the barrel hood by a good .050 if not more .
Question can I safely shorten up the oal that much with this load??

I use Redding comp pro 10mm dies been very satisfied . Also have a set of Redding 223 national match on a Dillon 550 press using whidden tool heads.

Picked up a vepr in 7.62x39 last year just before they released the none slant cut recivers.  Been very impressed with it a Lot more accurate than I was expecting . Owned a slr95 back in the 90s when they first come out very good rifle actually regreted selling it . And was looking to get another arsenal but saw the vepr and took a chance glade I did . I would probably give the vepr slightly high marks above the slr 95 .

I don't have any personal experience with Michaels machine.
Do have decent amount with ghillebear over at HK pro .I have 1 build from him 9mm mp5, friend has 3 of his builds mp5k , mp5 .40 and a g3k from him . To the op yes please stay away from cohaire arms I've seen a mp5 .40 loose all it's bolt gap in less than 1000 rds using a cohaire trunnion.  Stick with German or RCM parts .

May I ask , is being built from German kit or us parts ?

My gen4 g20 fde I picked up on a trade from a gun store I can't be for certain but I believe the previous owner had the slide cerkoted to match the frame. It does show a little holster wear around the front edge of the slide but other than that it's been holding up pretty good. So that might be an option for you to consider.

Yea most people I've talked to that have these have the same complaint.
I'll try to remember the wax tip if I ever run out of eezox.
Back to the op sounds like a late model 3rd gen , glock did change some things on the late gen3 guns same time frame as the gen 4 release' s if that includes finishes I don't know .

My Redding 9mm micrometer seating die didn't like 147gr xtp bullets. But seemed to work just fine with 115gr hap.

In the last year I've started to switch over to eezox and I've been happy ever since . If you have ever owned mp5 magazines rust like you wouldn't believe and at 80 bucks a pop seeing rust on them drives me nuts . I used to keep them dripping in oil but would still get speckled rust after 3 months . Since I've gone to eezox I've haven't had any and I don't have to have the mags dripping wet neither. I've even treated a g3 parts kit that has a in white ptr reciver no rust on it since I've sprayed it .

Over the yrs I've owned 2 block gen2 17's , 2 late gen 3 19's and now a gen4 g20 . Knock on wood the sights have been on from the factory . I would try the suggestion from the previous poster would try it 1st and I deally from a rest if possible . If this is you 1st block be aware many 1st time users do pull the shots to the left from my experience. 

Yea it's funny how that goes , I've had a couple of guys I've taken to the range that were big 45 acp fans . 9.2 gr of long shot behind 180gr bullets opens there eyes up quick .

Used the Barnes load data all the way to there max listing.
In a factory stock g20 gen4 recoil was mild accuracy seemed to be on par. Sorry no velocity data.

Hk made 2 different locking wedges 1 low impulse 2nd high impulse for hotter ammunition.
