Handguns / Re: Colt is bringing back the Cobra

Dad had a 28 and a Python, he liked the Smith better, me as a kid loved the Python.
I am excited for Colt to get back in the DA business. I wonder if the Zombie show on AMC had a hand in it- Pythons seemed to have really spiked in value lately.

Handguns / Re: Ruger GP100 3" 5 Shot .44 Special

I load 44mag cases to 44special specs for SAS in my 44mag Vaquero. Very accurate with home cast 200gr RNFP, and very cheap to shoot. Made me a fan of 44 special. I would like to get a dedicated little revolver like that.

I am also a fan of the Delta Elite  :) The new style has more features then the one I bought last year, kind of wished I would have waited about another 6 months, but then I wouldn't have bought my Kimber and we all know two 10s are better then one.
Did the same thing, wished I would have waited. Mine has the extended thumb safety(guess it was not supposed to be there), and I just fitted and installed a drop in WC beaver tail. I went with the drop in so I did not have to modify the frame and can put it back factory.  It was a bit uncomfortable shooting underwood ammo with the factory grip safety. I am getting a Glock, and will be trading this DE on the new style/rail version eventually. The unsupported bbl no longer worries me as I will only shoot the underwood or NEW brass full power loads. This is really not a sacrifice as I have recovered just 5 cases from the 100 rds of underwood I have fired. The handloads  are much easier to recover and I will reload them with mid velocity for the DE and full power in the Glock. Dang internet had me convinced I bought 1200.00 .40S&W(I absolutely hate that caliber btw). I am so glad I found this site. I love Colts.

Colt Delta Elite with mucho mods.

Really want a new Delta Elite.....though now that Colt is coming out with a rail version.....since my current Delta is my EDC gun, the rail model would do great duty as my HD gun with a light and still be capable of ding SD duty.

Either way, a Colt Delta Elite.
Any word on when the rail version will be out?

New Ruger?

I have full confidence in the Delta now, for full power factory ammo. If I am gonna load hot, it will only be with new brass(heck, cant find the majority of brass fired from it anyway). So I do appreciate some cheap target practice loads. Thanks.

Quote from: spaniel on December 15 2016 04:30:57 PM MSTI think Kimber suffers the same numbers problem compared to DW  and other lower volume brands.
That is something to ponder for about anything(specially cars/trucks). Something else seems to me if 10 people are super satisfied with something maybe 1 will take the time to post about it unprompted, but if 10 people are dissatisfied maybe 1 wont take the time to let everyone possible know about it.Then it becomes kinda pack mentality. :)

Get the training with your Delta Elite.  Any instructor that turns you away because you don't have a Glock isn't one I would want instructing you anyway.  An instructors goal should be to help you be the best with whatever tool you have, not sell you the tool they like.

And, training with a that gun will tell you alot about you, it, and the capabilities the two of you have together.
I really like this line of thinking. I was watching some "drills" and it looks like a 1911 would require alot more mag changes- but I need to get proficient with that as well.

Will you be getting a G20, G29, or G40?

A little practicing in my backyard, and I know what will be in my Delta if I ever carry it for SD.
On a quick draw and fire on 6 clays at 25ft I hit 5 of 6 with the UW 155's. I hit the first, missed 3 and hit the last 2 at a noticeably slower pace with the UW 180's. The extra penetration is worthless if I miss.
One of the reasons I want to buy a Glock is to get some formal training, the most "tactical" pistol I own is a M9.
Still have not put a 29 or an SF in my hands yet Xmas time has the inventories running a bit low. I am expecting the first of the year for a decision to be made.

I sent a Colt to the factory to have it "accutized" it included custom trigger @ 3.5lbs, Hammer, grip saftey and match bbl/bushing. This was back in 99, the cost was 650(ouch), but it is a very nice colt now. I dont know if they still do it , but I am pretty sure Kimber offers customizing- dont know if it is by order or if you have to buy one and send it to them.

Rifles / Re: sr7.62
December 13 2016 09:47:26 PM MST
I have his and hers SR556's, we love them absolutely 0 complaints. That said my match AR's are all DI. Unless a 7.62 is strictly a "battle rifle" I would not want a piston. I have a 7.62 I built that is a 1/2moa DI rifle, I did not think I could do with a piston. Just my .02 fwiw.
