I had the same problem with my full-size RIA 10mm.  RIA fixed it and had it back to me in four days (door-to-door).  No problems with it since.

It shoots well, recoils less than I expected, and feels better in my hand than a Glock 20.

I've got a single-stack combo (with 9mm barrel) and love it.

It has little felt recoil in thje steel-framed 1911 and is accurate. 

It enits a fireball, but not as big as the one a Kel-Tec PMR-30 puts out (that can be seen from space!  ) .  I imagine it would be a VERY good self-defense pistol, especially at night where it would allow you to see whether there are any other attackers in the immediate vicinity.
