Thanks!

It seems there is a big supply of 40 short and weak locally...I wonder why?

What spring weight should one use when shooting a 40 S&W ammo in a G-40? I have a 22LB in my Lonewolf slide but ordered a 17 pound spring as well. I was wondering of the 22 lb spring might be to much for the 40 S&W and such.

Note, I do have the conversion barrel I'm going to shoot the 40 short and weak with. I've seen so much of that ammo at retailers, I guess I can use that to practice with, as its much cheaper than 10mm.

I put a 22 lb tungsten Gen 3 guide rod in my G-40 with an adapter ring for a dumb line of thought that didn't work out if that helps. I moved it to my gen 3 gen 20L slide I got.

Well I found from experience for AFFORDABLE barrels with super quality is the KKM barrel. But the "price" you pay for it, is a very long lead/wait time for it. And they can handle the wider XTP and other wider than normal hollow points as well. But they are well worth it!

The Alpha Wolf Barrels I got, work good as well with standard factory loads like Normal JHPs, but they have a problem loading the wider XTP bullets and caused Failure To Feeds about every bullet. But that's the only problem I had with Lone Wolf Barrels. But I still use the 40 Short and Weak Conversion barrel a lot now as it seems 40 S&W ammo around now a days to practice with.

Well I found normal loads of mid power loads do about the same recoil, but the heavy higher powered loads did have the lower recoil felt (to me that is) when I shot them. Think they work by the heavier load the recoil system kicks in more.

I lost some weight with the break through I had! Thank god I had the vaccinations so it wasn't as bad as it could of been.

I got one with my spare 6" KKM barrel in it, it fits the G-40, and the polymer 80.

I ordered a DPM Recoil Reduction System for GLOCK 20-21-40-41 GEN 4 Captured Version, the non captured version works great for my heavy 10mm loads. Saw this was neater and easier to mount so thought I'd give it a try.

Any one else give this one a try?

OK GOT IT! Had the corners rounded, straight serrations back and front OEM nose a parts kit and paid a 25 dollar assembly fee also had about the same sights on my G40 and when it came I put in a alphawolf barrel 6" 10mm (the SS matte KKM barrel for when not using the 40S&W barrel for practice) with my 22 LB gen3 spring, and it fits snug on the G40 and it works!

Lonewolf distributing agent said the Alphawolf model 20L Gen 3 slide was made to work on the G40, so think this is a good investment.

I can give barrel advice some what. Alphawolf barrels are available in 6.02", they are melonited and work pretty well. However from my experience, the XTP bullets mentioned above are wider than normal bullets and I've had FTF for my XTP bullets in my Glock 40. I'm not bashing Alphawolfs barrel, its just they were made for the more normal ammo out there I think. All my standard JHPs work and even my Double Tap 200 grain hard cast lead that did do in a critter that needed getting done in. I had to use the OEM barrel with the XTPs for deer hunting till I got the KKM barrels. I like to keep near max factory loads in my G-40 so I got the KKM barrels that I can use XTPs in at a mag switch. I've loaned out alphawolf barrels till the loanees came back from what ever trip or till they got their own Alphawolfs or what ever other barrels they got. One alphawolf barrel I got was the 40 cal conversion barrel for more affordable practice ammo, I THOUGHT 40 cal would be easier to find, LOL was I wrong, I find more 10mm that 40 cal! But still keeping it for the just over hundred rounds I got for a few long practice sessions I plan to do soon.

The best all round barrel to get I think is the KKM Barrel. Its surprisingly affordable compared to other barrels out there, but you pay for the ahead of time payment and the long wait period. The Alphawolf makes a good interim barrel if you got the cash and a blaster for when cheaper ammo comes back.

As for bears the reason for a 10mm for me was 15+1 in the gun. But make sure to use a GLOCK SAFE HOLSTER. I use blackhawks in the field. I also live in the Minn. My experience with them food pack thieves is let them have the food pack, but if they want you... But learn to recognize bear predation behavior and their predator lock ons they may have on you. I have a bear who hangs out around the old farm stead house, he never causes trouble, so I don't even "hunt/harvest/murder/whateverpeopleareusingforPCnameswhenyoumurdersomethingforkillingseason" because he also keeps more problem bears out of the area. But that's just me.

If you ever get a differn't barrel, KEEP THE OEM BARREL! Its as tough as heck and made to last a long time.

Well getting the slide in a mere 3-5 weeks as its milled from a blank after a live text chat exchange as I was curious how long it was going to take. I figured about that longish about anyways. I'm not getting "SPEED HOLES!" in it as I see that's a good way to get junk in the action when in the wilderhood. Never could understand "SPEED HOLES!" on a slide but for lookticooliness, except for where there is a compensated barrel to account for. I think it would be playing around with spring weights to figure out the best one needed to stop FTFs from happening.

OK...went with the non MOS milling due to economic reasons. I still got a G40 for that I figured. Don't know if the milling had the mounting holes for an Red Dot any ways.

I got a few frills, side serrations grips, some sharp edges curved and such, a polymer rear adjustable sight and polymer front sight. And paid for its assemblage with the parts kit. For 392 about including my state's evil state tax, just 8 bucks under budget for me.

I already got a 22Lb Gen 3 RSA and spare barrels...may have to get a 17 pound RSA for the 40 SW conversion?

Any one know what is a good 40 SW Pound spring is?

Oh thanks! This info is very handy! Any thing else this ignorant one needs to know?

I'm looking at the Lone Wolf slide 20L type for a polymer 80.

Thanks, I was wondering if leave it non MOS or not.

Does milling a stainless steel slide for an MOS, weaken it to much? Its for a 10mm long slide I will also be using full power loads with.
