Earlier in this thread, some posted to Alliant's BlueDot warnings for 41mag & 357mag. BlueDot was reformulated and subsequent testing showed certain previous load data surpassed SAAMI specs. The loadings in concern can still be loaded with BluDot but with loads reduced from older published data.
Handloader 2009 Feb/Mar has a write up about it.
"In Alliant's case we saw
the purchase of the
smokeless powder division of Hercules, Inc.
by Alliant Techsystems
in 1995 and the resultant move of the
powder manufacturing
facilities from Kenvil,
New Jersey, to the
Radford Arsenal in
southwestern Virginia.
Almost immediately Alliant announced "new
and improved" versions of its traditional
powders such as Red
Dot, Green Dot and
Unique. The new versions were the same as the old in
burning rate and performance
but were much cleaner burning.
As Blue Dot moved to the new
production facilities, changes
were more apparent. Blue Dot
became slightly faster burning."
