Questions/Suggestions / Small amount of factory ammo.
September 19 2018 02:59:05 PM MDT
I've have a Colt Delta Elite 10mm Auto since 1992.  I don't think that I ever fired it.  My shooting days are over, due to old age and the related maladies.  I still manage to enjoy my guns, by displaying them, along with a few of their appropriate cartridges on stands that I've built.  This Delta Elite, is the only one that I don't have a few display cartridges for.   I'd like to obtain a few, high performance cartridges for that purpose.  At 87, I don't drive much, or far anymore.  Any ideas of where would be the the best place for me to find a few of them?   Thanks.

Gunsmithing / Adjustable rear sights
August 25 2016 02:26:47 PM MDT
Hi, All,
The 10 mm. Delta Elite, and the .38 Super, pistols are more suitable to use for longer distance hunting, Target, and working up handloads with, than  most non target 1911 semi autos. therefore an adjustable rear sight seems like a suitable accessory to add to one of them. I always try to add accessories to my firearms, that can be removed, and be able to put the firearm back into stock configuration. Thus I am looking into using one of the low profile, adjustable, rear sights offered by the Italian firm, named LPA sights. They work with the standard front sight on Colt 1911 pistols. I am using several that were offered for sale by the Pachmayr Co. many years ago. I am sure that they are the same sights, made in Italy, offered under their own name, LPA. I still have a couple of the old Pachmayr offerings, but am a little too dumb to find out, on the internet whether I can use them for what I want them for, or what ones to buy.  I could drive the stationary stock sights out of the pistols that I want to replace the sights on, and try them, but would rather rely on the experts on this forum for advice, and answers, before I remove the stock sights. The pistols that I would like to replace the rear sights on are an early Colt Delta Elite, and a 1990 .38 Colt Super Commander. Any advice or help on this matter?

Gunsmithing / Re: 10 mm S&W bbl.

Sorry Folks,
I made a bo bo. said the reverse of what I wanted to say. I want to find a .40 cal. bbl to shoot .40 cal ammo in a 11mm. Delta Elite pistol. thankfully some of you read around the bo bo, and saw what I wanted to say. The old true saying goes, "You have to take a Dutchman at what he means, not what he says". Sorry. Gunsmithing / Triggers
August 15 2016 09:06:41 AM MDT
I have a deep rooted hatred of anything plastic used in the manufacture of firearms! I know that I'm wrong, but that is my opinion. This being confessed, I have at least three Colt 1911 pistols that have plastic triggers, and a couple that have metal triggers that are of the wrong length pads. I would like to replace them with metal triggers of the right length, that include adjustable trigger stops. what is the opinion of the forum members of the Wilson, and Remington triggers being offered for sale on e-bay? Thanks.

Gunsmithing / loose slide
August 15 2016 08:43:52 AM MDT
I have taken a new interest in the Delta Elite, that I purchased new in 1992. Only had it to the range one time, and fired a couple of  mags of ammo in it  at that time. Was really impressed, and enthused with it. Put it in the safe, and intended to make it one of my favorites. Forgot all about it until now, 14 yrs. later. Got 'er out the other day, and have been looking at, fondling, talking about, and discussing things to do with it on forums, and in general getting enthused with it again. In handling this pistol, I happened to notice that the slide seems to be a lot looser than any of the Colt 1911 pistols that I own. Is this a normal condition for a Colt Delta Elite of this era? I don't know the mfg. date of this pistol. the Ser. number is DE362xx. Is this something that I should be concerned with? Thanks.

That is an interesting situation. It sure gets the slick tongued, politicians that handle the truth a bit carelessly, running scared, and wanting to be protected by officials carrying those nasty old guns that the public should not be permitted to possess, doesn't it? funny how some folks deserved to be protected, and some don't. It's almost as if there were double sets of standards out there doesen't it?

Gunsmithing / 10 mm S&W bbl.
August 11 2016 02:38:12 PM MDT
I'd like to get you folks' opinion of the best for the buck, 40 cal. barrel to fit to a 1992 Delta Elite. In getting old i'v lost most of my gunsmithing skills, and would like it to be a drop in grade. It would not need to be target grade ether. I would just like to be able  to use some of the old .40 cal. ammo. that i still have around the house, from a long gone pistol. Suggestions anyone? Thanks.

I guess I beat around the bush too much, and had the cal. wrong for the bbl. that I want.  Yes, I just want a 40 cal. drop in bbl. to fire 40 cal. in my 10mm. Delta Elite pistol
