I have not found heavier recoil spring to help much with the launch distance of the ejected 10mm case. However, for my EAA pistols I have found shortening the length of the ejector makes a big difference.

Hey Pete, care to put numbers to this? In feet I mean. Was 20 feet, reduced to 10 feet with x load. Simply by shortening the ejector.

Hey Rev,

Gotta say, I dig what you've done here. Sweet piece!

Curious if that custom mount to slide is friction fit only?

The ideal version I would want is a 6", double stack. Unsure why they don't make one. May not be a market for it there, or it may be too far from the sweet spot in which a rotating barrel operates reliably? or off in the future?

At any rate I can settle for a 5", double stack, that doesn't throw brass twenty feet away, for now. In the not too distant future, er I Hope!

A 4.25", single stack, not so much. So the waiting game continues.

I'm interested in purchasing the P40L in 10mm so decided to contact Eagle.

Just read their reply dated 11-7 which states "we do know that the GP40L is not coming into the USA at this time".

Well obviously that could change tomorrow, besides I'd imagine Eagle don't want to stunt P40 sales by announcing the P40L until they are stocked locked n ready to rock. So I just wrote david.copping@grandpower.eu (Dave), asking him to reply here on this post with any information that he may have. Incase anyone was wondering I included this link.

The reason I did this and have reason to believe he "may" respond here, is Jesse Adkins commented on one of the youtube vids that Dave made about the P40, inviting him to comment here, and Dave actually asked for the link. But sadly I think that was missed...

Anyway that was two years ago, perhaps he will drop by and enlighten us about the status of the P40L in 10MM. If not, we all have his email :P

read the last few comments at the bottom of this vid to see Dave actually asked for a link but wasn't given one. :(

Is that plain lead or hardcast lead?

For what its worth, the manufacturer claims 15 Brinell.

You can view a bit more about it here,

Thank You MT for sending these in! Thank You Shadow for all your efforts! The pictures are great too, adds substance. Overall this is a fantastic resource of information. I recognize the time involved and appreciate it. I trust it's a labor of love.

I see Selway finally corrected their Ad as well (no longer does it state GAS CHECK).
Even though the link (itself) still does.

Oh and as for the powder change, I wonder if it was simply because they ran out of one or the other?
Still, if they have advanced tracking in place, and are sold in LOTS, it would be nice to have one box of loaded ammo with only one type of powder in each box for better consistency.

Hey TSP if you have a Dremel for hogging off the initial mound of plastic, and a fine flat file for cleaning up the edges, and a vise for squeezing the spring, this can all be done to one mag in less than 20 mins, faster as you learn the method. The people selling these for $100 dollars are cashing in big time. Here's mine on a G40MOS 10MM with 9" lonewolf barrel. G20.4 Mag with Kriss 45 extender. Friends dubbed the frankin glockzilla, functions fine for a range toy.

Oh by the way, if you get a gen 4 frame, be sure and get a gen 4 mag. 1's 2's and 3's however can use any gen mag.

While I drive some of my bullets to upper performance ranges the range at which the bullet may impact my target maybe quite a bit further down range, such as hunting at a distance.  The velocity would be dropping off at the longer range!

Excellent point, and one I think the non-hunters often overlook when giving advice to hunters. Defining your usage (and range of distance) up front will help tailor the load. With hunting rounds, hotter loads are usually more desirable. As to Shadows point, a 180 Grain hollow point spiraling out of the muzzle at a velocity of 1340, by the time it reaches the 100 yard mark, it's probably slowed to a mere 1050. That 728 ft lbs of energy at the muzzle has also been reduced to a mere 450 ft lbs at that same distance (give or take, but close). Not going to mention bullet drop at that distance lol But with pistol shots I prefer to get a little closer.

For PD rounds, ranges are very short, to the point you can overdrive a bullet if hand loading. Finding that sweet spot is half the fun.

I'll shut up now, carry on!

Factory 10mm ammo / Re: HSM 200gr HC

http://thehuntingshack.com/?page_id=25

Page claims these new 10MM bear loads have,
No Gas Checks, 15 Brinell, doing 1041 fps, out of a 5" barrel, for 481 ft lbs

Question, with no gas check, is leading even an issue out of a good aftermarket barrel, especially considering these are not exactly loaded hot?

MT10mm can you do a pull down of one of those cartridges and photo the backend of the bullet please? If you're not comfortable doing so, would you consider sending one to The_Shadow to document? Would be nice to have these newer cast bullets in the pull down database as I recon the powder weight and type is not on file for this particular load.

I've contacted SelwayArmory and HSM about the false advertising/misprint by Selway below.

http://www.selwayarmory.com/hsm-10mm-200-gr-lead-rnfp-gas-check-bear-load-box-of-50.html

So far, Selway has remained silent. But Jamie from The Hunting Shack Inc (makers of the HSM ammo) has stated the following;

"It is a RNFP lead bullet without a Gas Check. We currently do not have a load in the 10mm that has a gas check on the bullet. Please feel free to contact me with any further questions."

So despite what Selway claims, until I see a photo of a gas check proving otherwise, I'm going with what the manufacturer says.
